Finally some excitement on this site. I love crushing frame rust. So much serotonin released amongst completion.

Well if you think that's exciting, you should see what Nanaimo Toyota gave me instead of a discount...

And that's only because I went to high school with the one guy...he kinda snuck it into the box.

Pretty sure the other one wanted to tell me to **** off because I didn't meet the dress code or drive a new piece of s***.

He was kindof a prick. I gave him 3 opportunities to not be a dick, and he shat on me every time.

Always good to remind myself why I don't go there much. At least I know to ask for high school buddy now tho...(buddy is a stretch, haven't seen him in 20 years...but I see discount cultivation in my future 😂)

Nanaimo Toyota - bunch of d***ches. I’d paddle my canoe to Japan for parts before I’d go back there.

Kinda cool... I really hate going to the dealership, but would go there if they'd toss one of those in. I'm a bit of a tool junky, and good flashlights are no exception. My favorite (Thrower) flashlight will light up the area at 1/2 a mile.

It this the way frames were originally? I'd think boxed would be stronger and greater rust resistance.

I understand the sentiment.

Toyota Service department actually told us we shouldn't have spent our $37k on a Toyota if we wanted good service. Apparently, $37k isn't enough to get service from them.

Toyota Victoria won't even quote on the cost to evaluate if we need a new 12v battery or not VS Duncan where they offered to check it free of charge.

Also, Victoria didn't do half the work on a service order that I paid for... management refunded the bill, but I want to know work is done that I've paid for. I shouldn't have to check my air filter, tire pressure, brakes, etc... after paying $175 for a service that includes that work. I'd rather know what work has been done.

Those parts guys certainly give those Lordco retards a good run for their money!

Got an actual 16” 2 piece wheel if you are looking for a spare. The tire is a 267/75R16. Old but tons of tread. BS is 3 3/4” anyways.

Yep that's how they were. Rumor has it the fuel tank won't come out if it's boxed, and of course the fasteners for the shackle hangers and body mounts would be difficult to reach...as for strength, one must remember it's just a truck frame, not a bridge abutment .

Flashlight is meh. I was being sarcastic. I have a few of these rechargeable Bostac roadie flashlights I get when I order guitar parts. Those things are awesome compared to the Toyota one.

Pretty sure there's one guy that's the source of it. He's a ****ing peach.

Always seems to be one. Duncan used to have a woman with one leg, she was pretty much openly hostile.

Wanted me to come in and prepay for a 5 dollar part. Shifter bushings I think it was.

Wouldn't do cc over phone and wouldn't place order without payment.
Called Nanaimo Toyota and dude says, it'll be here tomorrow.

Must've lost her leg in a freak birfield accident.😜

That was Darcy. You must have instilled your obvious charm on her to have generated that response. She
was my go to when I started out with the 40. Funny how we all get different reactions from the same people.
She is in Victoria at a dealer now, no idea which one.

Nope. That was a cold call, asked for the part she instantly got her back up and was rude. Something about "you Landcruiser guys" when I asked if she was serious about me driving in to town to pre pay for a 5 dollar part.

Obviously I caught her right after you left.🤣

I guess my natural attraction to someone who can’t outrun me! LOL! She had attitude,
you might be mistaking her for that chick that came later who was dating a Land Cruiser guy - he really messed her up. Couldn’t fix that.

Comox Valley Toyota is decent.

From a picture of a flashlight it's hard to tell.

I'm happy with my Noctigon K1

I was mistaken, it's beam is rated at 1500 m which is closer to a mile.

When out star gazing with my kids, I can use it to point out the constellations. It doesn't reach the stars, but it sure can point them out.

The above picture isn't doctored... they really are that bright.

It doesn't reach the stars,
Sure about that? Few thousand years from now, some alien will see a flash

That's a lot brighter (or at least more focused) than the bostac ones I have. They have a decent beam but are more of a flood. Made for roadies frantically trying to get amps to work again.

Also good for lighting up racoons in the trees around the house, or whatever else a dog is losing it's s*** over at 2am.

I just like that they're rechargeable, and only about 15 bucks each so I can leave them around the various doors of the house. The guitar place I got them from has $$$ shipping, but I can usually sneak one of the small ones in before it jumps from $25 to $70 in shipping.

It's annoying, there's a bigger version they sell, but it instantly bumps the shipping up to the next price level, at which point it's not worth it.

I was fixing a cool old Mares dive light a few years ago, and went down a rabbit hole on a forum completely devoted to building flashlights. I should look into that again. Be a fun lathe project.

It’s awesome for walking the dogs at night… I can easily spot them 2 soccer fields away.

Lousy for close range… usually way too bright.

Well, time to do some work to this old bitch. Tailgate was getting s***ty, so I figured I'd start the bodywork there.

Got a little sidetracked tho

Storage space, and deleting the license plate light depression, my light holder was s***e anyways, so I'll probably use a 40 series one.

Hole.

Less hole.
PXL_20230731_204701020.jpg

How many holes do you need to mount a license plate? 10 apparently. You need 10 ****ing holes. :bang:
IMG_20230731_104845_01.jpg

Some of those were probably for a badge saying turbo, because fawk knows, an hj61 needs to have turbo written on it at least a dozen times. 🙄

This is about it for today. I need to go rummaging for latches and decide if I want to use a hinge or not.

And that's enough of that bull**** for one day

I need a better cover and hatch, the plywood is s***ty, but it sorta works.

For now I'll just leave it open till I find a piece of plastic or something.

I had a half can of paint so I figured I may as well waste it on there. At least it makes it obvious where more fairing is needed, but between the tire carrier and the license plate you can't really see much anyway.

PXL_20230801_204822131.jpg

I don't mind this color, if I go with an actual Toyota colour I could see picking this one.
