Where's ARB in all this...?

I keep scrolling back to those Dissent Porn Welds...my goodness....wow.

Might as well add it to the mix.

I have been happy with my ARB so far. The installation had a few setbacks due to the variance in the lx470 rear bumper mounts - couple of modifications in order to get it to fit. The welds are stout, but not near as aesthetically pleasing as the Dissent.

The extra lights on the bumper eliminate the possibility of being pulled over for lack of brake light visibility.

Those ARBs are nice for sure. I especially like that, similar to the Dissent, they have "shorter" swingarms. Doesn't seem like a big deal until you have a bike rack or a trailer and the longer swingarm for the tire (like on my BIOR) can't clear. I have to jack-knife my trailer in order to open the longer swingout and access the hatch/tailgate. For the bike rack, I had to get a "drop" hitch in order to lower the rack and still have to engage the down pivot so the swingarm can clear.

On my trailer I use the Jack-E-Up plate that allows removing the jack in just seconds. Without that I couldn’t even hook up to my trailer because of the spare tire. It’s so much better than using a hitch extension(I did that a few times and it was not pleasant).
If you look close at the pic of my trailer you will see there’s no jack.

This may be a dumb question, but has everyone passed state safety inspections with dual carrier rear bumpers or been pulled over on the highway or something for not having brake lights visible? Especially curious of those with highlift jack and a three can swingout holder. It looks like from the photos that you can't see the left or right hand brake lights from directly behind. Obviously when youre offroad who cares, but gotta get their somehow-plus if its your DD.

Slee's doesn't block the lights. I'll take a photo for you in a few.

What is that fold out accessory on the white bumper that has the rotopax and kitchen set up? I was set on slee because of Location, but what in the glorious hell is that set up?

What kind of mods did you have to do?

I've never been pulled over forty tail lights being blocked by my bumper. The lights are even more visible now with LED's replacing the factory bulbs.

The ARB bumper lines up with the stock bumper and is bolted in the factory location at the hitch mount. The holes did not line up and I had to drill out new holes in order for it to fit. Also, there is a bracket that holds both swing arms in place and that had to be modified in order to get the bolts through the whole assembly.

I called ARB and spoke with them about it and they were not much help at all. They were trying to convince me that I had "one-off LX470", and they never heard of this issue. Funny thing is...I also have an '05 with the exact same configuration, so their argument did not fly - they did not address the issue. So, I told them I would modify it as long as they honored the warranty or any issues in the future. They were cool with that. I guess they are more focused on selling Jeep products and do not address the older vehicles as much.

Other than that, the bumper fits very well, very stout, and looks great on the LX.

I had a similar issue with the SoFlo bumper, had to drill new holes to make it align and the bottom part of the bracket was still about 1" lower than the frame. I had to put spacers on it. For what I heard, that was resolved on the new models, I was kind of the guinea pig....

@mmm635 Thanks for the info and pics! I’m about to take one to powder coat, so I’m glad to hear about this to check ahead of time. Any more info about the swing arm?

Once the bumper is in place, there is a bracket that the bolts pass through into the oem bumper. This is the bracket that position the swing arms in the correct location when closed. The holes in the bracket will have to be lined up with the modified holes in the ARB bumper.

I also purchased longer bolts and modified/cut the washers to fit in the tightly relocated holes on the bracket and ARB bumper.

Good day everyone! Can anyone recommend a rear bumper for 100 series land cruiser. I wanna replace my factory one with steel with tire carrier, maybe with ladder or Jerry can holder. I live in Southern California. Any recommendations will greatly appreciated
Come out to Escondido the 1st Tuesday to Mike's BBQ. We have several 100 rigs with different set ups to touch and feel....lol

@mmm635 You are right about the center bolts being off. Looking at the instructions their picture doesn’t have the hitch cut out in the cross member and shows the 80 series style bolt pattern.

How did you wire yours?

This looks like SoFlo bumper. Search for them here on the mud. They are very attractively priced but not quite at par with some of the other offerings.
I would also check out Dobinson. They have a sale going on and their dual swingout bumper is also very competitively priced

I do not own one, but have checked them out. Not entirely impressed at all. Not a lot of clearance and they seem bulky. Have no idea on metal thickness or weight. For your application it may be the bumper for you.
