I'm leading a group buy of RCV axles for the 100 Series Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX470.

Axle details

These axles will fit the following vehicles:

01.1998-07.2007 Toyota Land Cruiser (UZJ100, FZJ100, HDJ100, HDJ101)
01.1998-07.2007 Lexus LX470 (UZJ100)
Vehicles above with Savage Fab's LT kit installed (read more here)*

Features:
  • 4340 & 300M chromoly steel material
  • Supports up to 40" tires
  • Higher CV angles than stock OEM axles
  • Patented RCV joints
  • RCV lifetime warranty
  • 100% rebuildable
  • RCV FAQ's
  • center section 35 spline count
  • Dana 60 internals (outboard- .875” balls)
  • 1” balls on inner joint
  • Orange polyurethane boot on outboard joint
  • Black rubber boot on inboard joint
  • rough estimated cost of $2700 per set (my cost)
  • up to 30 degrees of articulation in each direction (both joints)

*For custom axle lengths, reach out to me directly. The main cost of engineering here is for the inboard and outboard joints as well as the hub/spindle design.

Pricing

Estimated price from RCV is between $2300-$2800 per set of axles so I'm starting the price at $1400/each axle. As more people sign up, the cost will decrease for everyone. This is an opportunity to buy RCV's for your 100 at my cost!

RCV needs a 50% deposit on 20x axles (10x sets) and we already have that covered by the list below. Anyone else who signs up will be benefitting from a discount since we have strength in numbers. I'm not attempting to make much, if any money off of this. I merely want these axles to be brought into production for the betterment of the community as a whole. It's been in discussion for years but no one has pulled the trigger until now.

Current list of folks who are buying in: (updating as needed)

@cruiserpatch 4x OE length axles
@BurnsCrew 3x LT axles (+3.5")
@samson100 3x LT axles (+3.5")
Cris D. "IG: @lx_shadw" 2-3x LT axles (+3.5")

Big Slack Off-Road 2x OE length axles
@RMTWELL 2x OE length axles

Sub total: 6x axles

I'll continue to edit and update this and the website listing as more people sign up and as details come in from RCV

A few updates on this-

I'm sending RCV 2x brand new OEM axle shafts this week so they can reverse engineer them from scratch.
RCV estimates the RE process to take between 2-4 weeks. Once that is complete, we will have a lot more details about what internals they plan to use (i.e. Dana 44, Dana 60, etc.) and how everything will be built.

I have a complete parts truck that I've slowly been parting out (no not my white '99 lol) and will be able to send RCV anything they need (i.e. spindle/hub, flanges used or new, front diff if needed). I've got four front diffs 2x 4.30 and 2x 4.10 so we're covered there just in case they need something.

Cruiser Outfitters allegedly sent RCV some in the past but RCV said they clean house annually and most likely threw them away.

FAQ:

Q: Can I order long travel (or OEM length) axles in this group buy?
A: Yes, this group buy is for any length of center shaft. The joints are proprietary to the 100 hub but the length of the shaft is independent of the design of the rest of the axle.

Q: Will I be able to buy RCV's in the future after this group buy?
A: Yes and no. This is a limited run (total # to be cut off once RCV finishes designing them) but RCV will keep the design files and tooling data needed to produce more down the road. They operate on a minimum of 10x sets (20x axles). If I have the cash to throw at another run, I'll do it if necessary but that may be years from now.

Q: What if something breaks or I need replacement parts?
A: RCV will be including some spare parts for me in this group-buy. These parts are limited, but included in the total cost. More can be made if there is demand. Some of the parts RCV will use may be interchangeable with other Toyota axle lines they've created, though this will not be certain until design is complete. RCV's lifetime warranty applies to this batch.

As of this morning I’ve received word that @BurnsCrew and @samson100 are both out which brings our total back down to 10x axles (10x short of the 20x minimum buy-in).

I’ll have to cancel this order if no one else signs up before Monday, maybe Tuesday.

Specs from RCV:
  • 35 spline center shaft
  • 1” inner balls for inboard joint
  • .875” outer balls for outboard joint with Dana 60 base
  • RCV orange polyurethane outer boots

A big deterrent for me is the fact that we are not able to get spare parts from them if we were to have a failure without placing another 20 axle order. So based on that fact alone, I’m out.

I mean I hear ya but from a business owner’s perspective, I’m not inclined to hand out freebies of that scale. Would be a recipe for bankruptcy

I think for the LT application you’ve entered a realm where spare parts are going to cost you a lot no matter who makes them. Just how low volume high quality works…

The OE joints are strong so I think if you can find someone to make center shafts for you at the correct length you’ll be set for a while

Oh I’m not asking for free parts, and I didn’t mean for it to sound that way. I simply mean, having to do another pre order for 10 axle sets just to get a new joint seems insane to me.
