I'd buy one today too

I would likely purchase one as well for my 2003. The only way to nav delete correctly is spend way more than id like. Basic temp knobs is fine with me, simplest functionality/look that can be acheived. If you did a package that also replaced the screen flush that would be great to save everyone the research. Happy to be a test dummy when you shift to older models like 2003 when your ready and pay for your first kit.

I will continue to listen to my eagles greatest hits cassette until your production is up and running!

Great work, following this and will be ready to immediately pull the trigger when ready. One thought and offer from me:

In order to overcome the fan speed - auto not matching up, could you make the fan speed control dial have Auto as the first or last selection? As in, the different points on the dial could be

1. Off
2. Low (or "1")
3. Low-Medium ("2")
4. Medium ("3")
5. High-Medium ("4")
6. Auto

This would solve the fan speed conflicting / not matching the true fan speed when using auto mode - just make it so that mode is turned on by the same knob. Simple.

Also - I have on-hand one of the button-based nav delete kits, including the AC Amplifier Assembly. I'd be more than happy to send it to you, as I never got around to wiring it up and nav deleting my 2007, and am now holding off for this product - feel free to DM me if you want me to send it to you for testing.

Thank you for the estimated timeline!

Based on that info, I would buy the 1st version for sure. Maybe upgrade when version 2 is available.

Quick update as we enter the hardware phase.

The brain of the unit (microcontroller) is now decided. One that is a compact design with enough capability to run everything properly without overcomplicating it. The main challenge right now iss how many things we can physically connect to it (buttons, lights, etc). Instead of going to a bigger, more expensive chip; looking at supporting components to take the load off.

Things should start getting a lot more tangible from here.

shout out @jabajee for the support

I have been following since February and very interested in purchasing for my 03 LC. The simplest knobs for HVAC control makes the most sense to me. After years of using a BT45-TOY to enable my phone for music, navigations, and calls, I don't want to install a head unit. Is there a way to avoid a head unit completely and just use bluetooth for either Android or Apple phone connection for connecting to the speakers?

Just get a CarPlay screen. That’s what I’ve been using.

Did you get the stuff you need from a Land Cruiser with JBL? If not I have one from an ‘06 that I’d be willing to send to you for testing and fitment. It’s currently not installed as I have an Android “Tesla style” screen installed. I’d want it back, but it’s just having out in a box anyway.

To be clear, I got a little a head of myself.... all this design is for a LX, correct? Not a GX? are they similar or would that entail a completely different design? I got all excited and re-read it and thought "oh crap!" wrong model.....

I’d buy one today. Even if it was ~1k. You’d have the entire market because what’s the next best option when my 20 year old nav dies? A s***ty ~1k Chinese option.

New to this world…
Long retired from employment as a systems engineer/program manager for Navy Space Systems. Deep appreciation for the progress against the challenges of reverse engineering undocumented interfaces and logic.

Related note, current auto design is beginning to pull away from this level of integration for exactly the reasons experienced here. Consumers are increasingly irate that perfectly serviceable vehicles are rendered functionally unusable by failed UIs that control everything and are expensive to replace if available (made of unobtanium).

Personally, I had to pass on a very clean, low mileage 100 because of a failed UI/screen. Just not worth the heartache.

Please continue the effort!

Progress Update

Core hardware direction is now locked and we’re transitioning into schematic and PCB.
v1 uses a dual rotary setup for TEMP and FAN (with push-off on fan), supported by dedicated physical buttons for AUTO, A/C, RECIRC, MODE, and FRONT DEFROST. MODE cycles through vent positions with indicator feedback.

Feedback is kept simple and OEM-focused: a small center display for temperature only, mode indicators (Face / Bi-level / Floor / Defrost), a fan level LED bar, and active-state indication on key functions.

System behavior is designed to mirror factory AUTO climate operation, with proper integration into OEM dash illumination for dimming.
