As you said earlier, let gas hover above $3. There will be deals to be had.

Yep, I just need to do it before I spend it all LOL

Specifically I am looking for a 03 or later LX or LC....light color preferred. I would like it close to 100K miles or less. Looking to spend less than 20K.

These things are being traded in for 14-17 so they are out there. I just need to find it.

I would not turn down a screaming deal on any year though.

You prefer a Land Cruiser or an LX? As you know, all LX's will have AHC, which could be good or bad, depending on what you're wanting to do with it. Also, it'll be much more difficult to find an LX for $20K or under. Let me know, and I'll see what I can find.

I will take either. Like you said, getting one for that price will be hard.

I am seriously looking, I just don't want to spend a ton of money on the front end.

Sub 100K miles in my biggest thing and I would like the 5 speed 2003, but if I can find a nice earlier one I will get it.

MIL has an 03. Not sure if I am going to get it.
If not I'll see what I can do to pass it on. It is immaculate
With 75k. Light colored.

Black ones have 15's.

I can make that go away with or without help.

100 series looking is worse.

Here is the problem.

I really want a 2003-2005. That said, anything that is in my range (mileage, proximity, condition) is about $5,000 more than I want to spend. $22,000-26,000

Drop into the 2000-2002 range and the NICE low mileage ones are at the top of the range I want to spend.

So, get the older model, keep $5000 in my pocket or get a newer one and spend more than I need to be spending on this project.

As hard as my buddies Todd and David are pushing me toward spending the extra of the upgrades on the 2003+, I am still looking hard at a 2000 model.

diesel 4 runner.......end of story.

along the same lines of Chris Rock and "tossing salad"

When you're in a diesel 4runner people still just see, a 4runner
but when you're in a Cruiser.... YOUR IN A CRUISER

This thread is starting to smell like the 80 series dreaming thread...

Take my advice, based on my prolonged experience last summer. Cough up the cash and get the right truck. It ain't that much more money and there is a huge difference in the condition of these vehicles (as well as owners' propensity to accurately describe them).

I bought Del's '03 almost 2 years ago for $15,500 with 97K on it. It needed brakes, a timing belt, a good cleaning and tires. It also has some parking lot booboos on the front bumper.

Couple that with the fact that it was EOM and home home hohomeboy didn't want to make another payment and I think I got a good deal.

My theory was that unless a seller could provide proof that the timing belt had been replaced, it had not been replaced. Also, I look at a truck needing tires as a good thing. I hate paying a premium for someone else's tire choice. I can get the front bumper sprayed if I ever feel like it. Or I can just wait until Del rams someone in the gas hole and use the insurance $ for an aftermarket unit.

You should have been in the market 2 years ago. This would have been a great truck for you.

Find a truck that needs a little love. This will allow you to add your farkles as desired.
