99 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER

I am looking for a late model 80 series or a early 100 series to leave in the bay area or maybe even a 4runner This might be a good one.

Any ideas?
And, it has both 16 inch and 18 inch wheels on it, so you don't have to decide between the two:doh:

I may be interested....

Well time will tell but I am about 90% sure I will have 5 RW wheels with 285.70.17s NTG for sale soon. Unless I can successfully debling to my liking.

I will get tread depth when I arrive home with the truck in coming weeks. They look to be fresh tires.

Pics?

Congrats John. Great get.

A superb overland vehicle.

Errbody in here knows me. They know I can't have nothing nice. This Hunnerd is too nice. I need to SHUNTerize it a bit. ATRAC is nice, it gets me up most hills I want to take the hunnerd up. But sometimes, I hit spots that I KNOW I should make. It's the ATRAC and no axles lockers limiting me from making certain climbs.
Question: Why not an Aussie/Spartan in the rear? Is there any thread that says "No"? Any reason? I'm not gone post in the hunnerd section, cause I don't wanna be flamed. But my long-time experience with these lockers has been a positive one. They work GREAT in the rear full-time 4WD rigs and while they ratchet, you simply do not feel them on the street since the front is also pulling. So I think it would be great option.
UNLESS there is a reason to not use a lunchbox locker with ATRAC...
YEA/NAY?

I think it's a 32 spline thang

My experience is the same with automatic trannys and auto lockers. I ran one in my 80 series. It was great. I never felt it back there. Ever.

As for a locker and ATRAC.

I put an ARB in my first 100....it was a 01. That locker confused the hell out of the ATRAC system.

Of course I was not used to all the noise ATRAC makes so looking back on it I may have just been hearing normal awful noises ATRAC makes.

I pulled the ABS fuse and wheeled it OPEN and locked the rest of that trip to Moab

I think when I posed this question before on the 80 or 100 section the people were more about Wigging out over the full time Tcase than anything else and it was when I kicked around an auto locker in the front

I know the rear is good.

Question is does truck work better with ATRAC or rear locker/open front because that is what my experience will get you

jbras, Lokka/Aussie has a unit for front and rear now. Just gotta order the correct one.

Good info.
My theory is... While it may confuse the rear, that's fine. It will be locked. I already have a CDL button, and that doesn't seem to confuse ATRAC, in fact, it helps it not engage as much. So I assume locking the rear will also not engage ATRAC as much. And if ATRAC is only needed for the front... well then, COOL, it will be like wheeling a 2/3's locked rig, instead of now, 1st GEN ATRAC seems, to me, atleast, that it's slightly less capable than a rear-only locked 80...
It's amazing at what a rearlocked-only rig will climb. Right now, I can not climb hills with 1st gen ATRAC, that I could climb with a CDL/Aussie rear... and that's frustrating.

If they have it now, do it. Shouldn't drive or wheel much different than an 80 in my mind. Maybe even disable atrac

"I'm not a smart man, jenny" but in my feeble mind... I can't imagine why it would disable the ATRAC for the front. Nothing is electric in the Aussie. So ATRAC would still be "live"... just not needed in the rear, only front, and would, in theory still be active up front.... No?

edit: and I'll add this... I believe in the FJ Cruisers that have E-lockers and ATRAC... they do cancel out each other, because they are both factory... They "know" each other are there...
My ATRAC would never know my Aussie is in there... ATRAC would just think I'm a good driver and not engage in the rear... It will think I have nice trails... in the rear.

So... I may do it, if no one has any disaster stories... but, I have a few other mods in line before it. It may be very later this year... I'm trying NOT to wheel the DDigger.

You are correct. My 4Runner has ATRAC and Elocker but it was designed that way.

Again, it seemed very confused. Seems ATRAC gets smarter every year and the one you have and I had was nowhere near as good as later editions I've used or seen used.

I may have just not given it enough of a try before pulling the fuse and going with what I was comfortable with.

Just giving you my first hand.

noises from ATRAC = Two midgets in the back seat wrastlin'

I really want to see this posted in the 100 forum. Pretty please. Don't make me do it.
