Colombiano...??

Yo vivi en Bogota por mucho tiempo..

Rumano (de nacionalidad), Colombiano (de nacimiento), Venezolano (de corazón)... I've been all over (worked a longer period in Mexico también).
Have good friends in all those countries.

Nice... Good build in progress.
I've run a double battery on all my previous rigs. Still debating on wether or not to put it in the 100.
Up to now I've had good luck with this as a back-up
Amazon.com: Antigravity Batteries AG-XP-10 Multi-Function Power Supply and Jump Starter: Automotive

Basically when I do a trip where I drive all day and set up camp in the afternoon and continue on the trail the next day, I've seen one battery is enough as long as the fridge is kept on a lower setting for the night.

When I stay longer than one day at the same spot, I just take my small Honda generator with me. This thing is VERY quiet and with a 100 ft extension cord, we set it far away as to forget it is even there.
https://www.amazon.com/Honda-EU1000...r=1-1-catcorr&keywords=honda+generator+eu1000

The only time I've needed a jump start from the XP-10 was at a campground where we where parked for three nights straight and I had to turn the generator off from 10:00pm to 7:00am quiet time. The fridge was kept on low with the car battery but I never started the engine once in three days... The battery had 11.8 AMP when I tried to start the truck, so for three nights powering the fridge, it is not that bad (and I have a 14 year old ARB Fridge, which does need more juice than the newer models).

I'll wait and see how the summer camping season develops to make a final decision on the second battery as TX gets very hot and that might have the fridge working overtime inclusive at night.

So I have an Odyssey 1700 as my main battery. 3-4x now I have gone camping and ran not just the fridge all night but the trucks stereo (with doors open-courtesy lights on) for 6-7 hrs straight. Truck cranks right up the next morning no probs. I have a nice solar panel I carry in case it gets drained down. I had Optima's in my Tacoma yrs ago and they would drain down and never charge back up to the same level. They just kept getting weaker and weaker as time went by. The Odyssey seems like a much better battery.

Cheers

Crap.... I just got a new Optima one month ago... Should have read more to see what battery was better, but was in a hurry as the Toyota True Start that came with the truck died on me without notice... (it was a 5 year old battery put in by the PO... very good one, but expensive as hell).

I'll do a test at home in order to see if the Optima can maintain the fridge all night

It will do the fridge all night, especially on a low setting. I had a redtop for my start battery and a yellow for my aux in the Tacoma. Fridge and all that ran off the aux. But over the course of about 1-2 months on a trip the yellow began to die down. After this it quickly got to the point where it would never hold a good charge and by morning it was always setting off the low battery alarm in my Nation Luna kit. I been through a lot of redtops, like 5-7 I don't recall exactly off the top of my head. I won't ever buy Optima again. I went with Odyssey last time around and man I been really happy with them. Had them since Dec. 2014 and did several trips with them including one 3-week trip down to Baja. They also sat on my shop floor for almost a year with zero charging and held up just fine. Best battery I have found so far is the Odyssey.

Oh ya by the way for anybody interested, the Odyssey 1700 just barely-barely fits in a 100-series in the stock location. You have to space or modify the battery hold down but I simply used some rubber blocks and it is good to go.

Cheers

That's good info. Thx!

Small job today... Had a Master Mechanic helping, so it went smoothly !

I swapped the rear sway bar links for longer ones to accommodate the lift.

Took a trip to Colorado last week. Really enjoyed the 100. First time I put the A-Trac to test and it was a pleasant surprise how well it works. Not a locker by far, but very nice to have. I have to say after the first set of TBs came defective from the factory and the limitations the front end has regarding lift and suspension travel, I was pretty skeptical of the 100's performance on technical terrain. But after this trip I am as fond of the 100 as I've been of my previous (solid front axle) Land Cruisers... Maybe even more so, as it is very confortable on the very long pavement hauls I need to do in order to get to some different scenery and public land to explore. I have to accept IFS has it's merits and it's place on an overland rig. After all, my truck is not intended as a rock crawler, but as a DD/Family Hauler.

Suizo de nacionalida, Newyorkino de nacimento, Colombiano de educacion, sufrimiento y corazon tambien..

At one point Colombia used to have a massive Textile/leather industry, so sad to see it go..

At one point I had nine "Costurer@s" working for me (making bicycle touring/rock climbing equipment) Incredible before we even finish brainstorming they were already making working prototypes..

Incredible skills..

Oh how much I miss my Pfaff "Codo derecho", never seeing only in the US for a quarter of a century..

Where did you source the longer sway bar links? or what year/make/model are they from?

They where a present from a buddy of mine in Venezuela. Doble & Mocha (@doble_y_mocha) • Instagram photos and videos They make them over there for the 80 Series. I tried finding something similar here with no luck, I can inquire about pricing if you want, but I'm guessing the shipping cost will actually be higher than the links, OTOH anybody with some half-decent welding skills could lengthen the OEM ones. Let me know if you want a price check on that

Nice! I was going to say that they could be made easily enough, and I thought the 80 series kit would fit, but curious where you got them from if they came from a non-usa model or such.

Loving this build, and the pictures of your adventures with the family look great.

So you removed the flares as well, guess with the low miles there was probably no signs of scratches or damage from them being on there?

Subscribed, love what you have done! Also awesome that you are able to take your family on these awesome trips. The kids will remember these times for sure.

Thanks for the comments.
There where very little scratch marks on the rear fender flares.... Not really important as the truck now has many more "naturally induced pin stripes"... ;)

@SS100 hey ya'll i live in south texas as well. Well have to set up a family trip of 100's to big bend

Absolutely! Or even to the beach or anywhere else closer by.
I try to go out at least once per month. San Luis Pass or any of the closer State Parks are good for getting out of the house with the family.
I was actually planning on going to Big Bend on Thanksgiving, but I broke my front diff last week at BVORR and not sure if the truck will be ready before that. Will give it my best shot.

@SS100 youch that hurts, I'm getting ready to rip my AHC adn put a lift on. I went to big bend last time but my AHC was going up and down lol it really stresses the system off-road. All i had was a rooftop tent and front bumper but it was taxing the alternator for sure. Let me know if you need a hand, i'm not best but it'd be good experience for me and anyone can always use another hand!
