Ultimate Air (www.ultimate-air.com) is having a 30% off Cyber Monday sale and i am thinking about picking up one of their systems. I am looking for some input on which tank to get, the 10 or 15 ? If someone has a similar setup, how many inflates from trail pressures to street on 285's can i expect to get out a 10 tank? Should i be looking at the 15 instead ?

Thanks!

I've got a 10lb. Power Tank setup and run 285/70/17 BFG Muds at 42lbs. I generally bring the rears down to 16lbs. and the fronts to 18lbs in the desert (fast washes) and 12/14lbs. for true rock crawling. I usually get maybe 20-25 fills max. probably less so if you can fit a 15lb. tank upright in your rig I would recommend going that route. I fill my 10lb. tank at Seal's Gases in Costa Mesa for $12.00 plus tax.

10lb The Source tank here. Easily 4, perhaps 5 fills on 4 285's I usually air down to 16 psi and back up to 38 psi. Fill at the same place as Scott in Costa Mesa - Seals Gases. Tare has used a place in Orange on Collins as it's across the street from a place I was having some work done and saw him over there. Balloon place IIRC, but Tare can chime in on the name, etc.

10lb tank is a good size - much bigger gets unwieldy and heavy IMHO.

I was thinking 15lb was rather large also...I guess i am going with the 10lb. Has anyone had any experience with Ultimate Air's regulator?

Thanks but damn you I might just have to shell out the $.
$200 shipped to me for the LT package isn't bad!

That is exactly what i am thinking! I have a great little compressor, but for the $$, it seems like a deal i can't pass up.

I have to ask if the tank will be mounted vertical and you if plan to keep it stationary (fill the tires with a hose long enough to reach all four tires)?

Taking your tank out and walking to each wheel to fill the tires gets to be a pain in the a** and a 15lb tank has the same foot print as the 10lb so unless you don't have the height clearance what is the advantage of a 10lb. tank? I'm just playing devils advocate. Also lot's of friends tend to scrounge air but I usually give them my compressor unless we're in a hurry. ;)

;)

Planning on mounting it vertically. It comes with a 25ft hose so i am thinking I can reach all 4 w/o moving it....You have good point about going with the 15lb'er. My only thought would be to keep it smaller and a little more out of sight and perhaps keeping the overall weight if all the cr*p in my truck down when possible.

Actually I just went out to the truck to measure and the 15# would be too large in my opinion and you may not be able to place it right up against the wall or in the corner. The 10# is 24" tall and goes a little past the bottom of the windows. But the 15# is 30.5" and it would go just about to the top mount of rear seatbelt harness.
So a Tan 10# is going to be my Christmas gift, just got the OK from the :princess:

15# is a good size. i have a 20# and it takes a good while til i have to fill it back up. plus i can i can use it for air tools and to blow all the dust off in the inside after a run, and still have plenty for the next run.

Yup, just placed the order for the 10# :D

I ended up going with the 10# also. At 30 inches tall the 15# seemed a little tall and i was hoping to keep it as hidden as possible in the back. Anyhow, pretty happy about the deal, i saved $95+ (bought the tank and mounting bracket).;p

I have a 10 but wish I got the 15lb tank. The 15 fits perfect at the rear corner of the 80, right next to the hatch. Just enough height for it to fit out of the way.

Thanks for posting this thread, and I got the mounting bracket as well. So what color tank did you go with?

Went with the black tank..... You?
