Good call on that PS cooler . Didn't see a fan coupler in there. Was that already replaced or maybe over looked. You don't realize how much things add up in work when you plan something like this. I know I fell short of what I hoped to get done on my freshening.

I bailed on the coupler -- the fan's pretty accessible with all this gear in there, all I'd have to do is take the fan bolts and shroud off --
-- I had to stop somewhere, and C-Dan blessed my decision --
Lose the cogged belts - aren't they noisy?? Also, that thermostat's not OEM if I recall correctly. Good job on the work - it's great to work with your Pop around. I miss that a great deal. So, what are you doing with the old radiator?

hey Doug --
We had a good time overall -- a memorable one at that -- my dad swearing at the radiator wasn't a highpoint though --
The belts are OEM, as is the thermostat -- that's what C-Dan sent me, unless he's gone to being a Fram rep --
The old rad is in a dumpster behind Dunkin' Donuts -- I want nothing to do with it!
Maybe someone 'in the know' can help us Newbs out and take the great pic of the rad and label all the openings, etc. :-[ Helpful for future reference...
you can do the fan clutch without taking the shroud off, its hard on the arms but doable.

cool -- i recently discovered i have "little fingers" -- or "coordinated hands" (as i like to call them) -- so gettin' in there isn't too tough --
-- just got my cordura gt covers today -- will post pics later -- they're like pig's skin!
I put a coupler in at 130k, what a difference. You typically won't realise that it is bad. That's because at highway speeds there is enough air flow through the radiator to not need the fan to cool. However stuck in stop and go traffic on a hot summer day and that's when it will rear it's ugly head. I got one at Autozone for $65.00. Normally I go with OEM but it was originally bought as a trouble swapping part and I honestly thought I didn't need it. I'm glad it's in there as the old one would have been a problem.
I understand that when looking at a vehicle with that kind of mileage it can get out of hand quickly on what to replace. But I'd re-think the coupler.

$100 is worth peace-of-mind --
-- it'll be at my smilin' dealer on Thursday AM --
thanks, Rick -- I'm gonna do that and my MF sunroof drains this weekend --
e
I hope the '94 doesn't get jealous of all the luv I'm givin' the '91 --
Okay, so I got the coupler this morning -- I can't believe that "the zone" sold one that'd fit an 80, 'tank -- also, when it "goes", does it just piss out the hydr. fluid and not spin?
e
BTW, I bent over and bought the fuel pressure regualtor, too -- figured that'd go before long, too -- I'm DONE for a while on my '91 --
-- that is, till I clean out the sunroof drains this Sunday --

When they go they just stop doing there job. No leak or anything. You'll just be sitting there overheating, and bumming out.
Speaking of fuel......have you put a fuel filter in yet?

Did you also remember to remove the dash to replace the "D" light? If it's not burnt out it will be, it's a "must do " for PM!

the "D" light isn't burnt out -- 185K later -- !!!

Did you upgrade the domes to the high-lumen luxeons that George the LED man sells?
Great upgrade...
Hey it's fun spending others' money!
Legal note- not affiliated, just happy.

I did upgrade all three of them on my '94 and two of them on my '91 -- I think the map LED lamp is overrated and too bleached --
