While mounting a new LSPV and spring (arm) to the old painted bracket, I discovered that I don't understand the FSM.
Can anyone help me understand? see pics.
On page BR-59, Step 3 says to install spring to valve using a clip.
I used a clip on the rubber boot but also ran the bolt...
I'm wondering... shouldn't there be a rubber hose connecting the metal brake line that goes from the LSPV on the frame to the rear brake coupler which is on the axle? I would expect there to be a constant clanking when the axle goes up/down with the suspension?
Thanks in advance.
Hey again y’all!
I’ve recently started having a weird brake fade situation that occurs intermittently on hot days, which has me preparing for a brake flush as the old stuff looks pretty black and contaminated, as well as the replacement of rubber hoses to refresh the system a bit.
I’ve sprayed...
The LSPV on my ’96 USA-spec was dripping and I figured I’d install a replacement, not delete.
I got everything but the rod bolted back together only find that the blueish plastic forks that form a slot for the rod are at a different angle than the old one. See photo.
Do I have the wrong part...
OK, 'Mud community, I've searched & read for the last few YEARS and still haven't come to a real conclusion on this.
Hopefully somebody here can FINALLYclear some of this up.
I have a 1991 3FE FJ80 (Disc/Drum brakes, w/o ABS)
However, I have a Full Float disc brake E-Locked rear axle, from a...
My LSPV on my 1994 FJ80 is leaking and needs replacing. The part is real pricey from Toyota. My question is 2-part:
1) Is a delete or bypass safe?
2) This is the OEM part:

Hey guys need a little input. 92 FJ80
So last summer me and my father overhauled the front brakes while we did the knuckle rebuilds. We also replaced the soft lines and a few crispy hard lines. As I get ready to rebuild my rear drums this summer I noticed my LSPV is looking really rough and...
I’ve been trying to get good braking performance on my truck since I bought it a little over a year ago. I figured I”d share some of this adventure in the hopes that it helps someone out.
Obviously start by adjusting rear drums properly and bleed all four corners plus the LSPV
1. Brake...
I'm stuck and am hoping someone can tell me why my brakes are so bad on my new 1991 FJ80. Ive searched the Forums for hours without any success. When i press the pedal, 90% of the pedal travel nothing happens and the last little bit the pedal gets hard and I slow down (though not well). The...
Hello everyone,
I have finished my install of my Dobinson 65 mm rear suspension lift. I know I need to move my LSPV. I test drove it and as it's quite slick around town at the moment with ice I am able to lock up the fronts but not the rears at all unless I really stomp on the pedal. My...
After installing my OME lift kit, my braking performance went from adequate to bad. After installing 255/85/r16 tires, my braking performance went from bad to "holy s*** this is scary dangerous".
Went through the FSM and several threads on mud. After performing some routine diagnostics, I...
I had to replace the LSPV. It's currently mounted and all of the brake hydraulic lines have been bled. I'm now having a hard time getting the pivoting arm on due to the LSPV's "foot" not easily compressing upwards.
Is it possible to compress the little "foot" (pointed by the green arrow in...
Now that you have fallen for my clickbait article, here is my LSPV delete write-up. Ever since I got my 80 series, I have wanted to improve the braking power, because, frankly it sucks. ( At least compared to other modern cars I have driven) One of the major things I wanted to do was get the...
I finally had some time to get to this today. Figured I would take some pictures and do a write up. There is plenty of info here, but it is a bit scattered. This will go from the start to the end. Is it worth it? Absolutely! For all those that complain about the brakes, we have plenty of...
