Anyone ever repainted the "Landcruiser" writing on their mudflaps?
Any ideas?
What do you think would be appropriate?

I cut mine off....trimmed them down....

I repainted mine with white letter tire paint. But eventually they got trimmed quite a bit.

What are mudflaps????????????????????

I took mine off whne I added the Slee bumper. They would have been ripped off wheeling anyways. I removed them in Moab temporarly

Your OEM mudflaps would've looked horrible with the Slee rear bumper -- or at least I thought mine did.

Earlier LC mudflaps have Land Cruiser in white letters, later version are not painted. I have a set that I will be placing on the :princess:'s 450 once I get and install a slee rear bumper on hers... I'll paint the mudflaps solid black.

Thus far I haven't done the wheelin' required to rip them off. I can hear them get caught when I roll off something big, but they always come out fine. Maybe I'll eventually see one damaged.

So are you folks saying, some day...when I too own a Slee bumper, that the mudflaps will look s***ty?

Or probably, some day...when I too own a Slee bumper and wheel hard enough to warrant owning it, I will rip my mudflaps off?

Who Needs Mud Flaps ???????
Mud Flaps For Sale PM me
Sorry for thread hijack Hayes.

Embossed "LAND CRUISER" in white on the 1991-93 flaps. 94-up embossed black letters. 91-2 flaps are narrower than 93-up. This makes 93 the only "wide" year with painted letters on the flaps.

If you like the white do it, You could use some plain ol testers paint and a brush, Or you could try some white shoe polish.
I still have my rear mudflaps on with no lift ....yet(awaiting install), and have had no issues.
Do what you like, It is after all YOUR cruiser.
Good luck

No. You have a LC. The LX 450 rear mudflaps look like crap with the Slee rear bumper.

Not Slee's fault -- I place all the blame with the design engineer who thought it would be a good idea to make the rear bumper of the LX 450 hang down about 2 inches lower than the Land Cruiser rear bumper...unless IdahoDoug was involved somehow with that decision...in which case, I think it was a BRILLIANT move :D

Because the LX 450 bumper hangs lower than the Land Cruiser's bumper, the mudflaps are different. The Slee rear bumper was designed to be very close in fit/finish with the OEM Toyota rear bumper, not the LX 450's rear bumper.

So...to make a long explanation longer...if you have a Land Cruiser, you won't have a problem -- you can use your existing rear mud flaps. If you have a LX 450, either ditch the flaps altogether OR find some LC mud flaps.

...how's that for a long-winded ramble to essentially tell you that you have nothing to worry about. :)

Are you trying to say this makes you special or somethin?????

special tard maybe. :D

:flipoff2:

I feel special in my '93.

I'll feel even more special when I'm driving around in my '93 with wide mudflaps that say "Landcruiser" in white block letters.

Hehe.

I never posted any pictures of the "special" '93 mudflaps.

Here you go:

Now the term "Land Cruiser" appears in exactly three different places on the back of my Cruiser--in case anyone behind me wasn't sure what I was driving.

I need some of those for the LX, but they probably won't fit (anyone?). :)

If you have the OEM LX 450 rear bumper, no, they won't fit.

If you have an aftermarket, such as Kaymar or Slee, yes, it will fit.

:)

I think I'd repaint mine, if I ever got the important things done first. I think they look more retro than "bling". Maybe I'll let my 3 yr old do it for me. You should see the wax job he did ;)

Excellent idea, farming out the work to your toddler.
My 2.5 year old would LOVE to do some work on "Daddy's truck."

I'll have to ponder it though, last time I let him play in the cab he stuffed the cigarette lighter full of pennies and shorted my dash. Then there was the time he got a hold of the ignition key....

P.S. I use the word "bling" in good humor. Retro is certainly cooler. The day I post photos of my Cruiser with giant chrome spinners is the day you can kick me off the forum.
