sup fellas,

it's only been about 7 months since i bought the four doors from r.k., so i figure it's about time for me to be finishing up on the half doors.

i had a great time doin these, and it was my first time welding anything substantial (as the welds will show, ha ha). after i got the welder tuned in it wasn't too bad...

cut the top off

(and yes, i'm goin to do 'something' about the surface rust on the inside...)

started weldin her up

That garage is too neat.

Looks good, you might want to turn down the power to the welder just a hair though. looks like the metal may have been heat stressed in a couple of spots but could be due to the tight area you were working in also. If you get it too hot it will tend to buckle and warp and makes it a pain in the ass to fix. I kinda did that when I put in a panel on my old ford. good luck

how you gonna open and close them now that the handles are gone?

dude, you jump in like the general lee.

nahyo,

the handles and latches are still there. you know, so the doors will at least stay closed...

i'll get some pics up soon of both of them in primed state

Looking Sweet! I have a set just like that I made for mine a few years back... I am at the same point you are (in your last picture) I need to get them out and finish them... Thanks for adding one more project to my list... :D

I've got a set of '75 have doors cut the same way, but mine have a cap riveted on the top. I like the welded top on yours much better. Think I'm gonna have to do that one day. Great job!

yep...they're still doin fine on the 40.

gettin a little chilly though, ha ha...45 degrees with the bikini and halfdoors...great...

oh, and yes, they are primed, ha ha

i painstakingly matched the primer color to exactly the same as i have on the rest of the body...
color code for anyone interested: PPG011010 (i.e. THE ONE IN THE CAN)
