I was trying to throw a set of Aisins on my 40 this weekend.

I thought I would be all detail oriented and clean the hubs up. So I took the dial apart, cleaned it and tried to put it back together and the F**cking BB went shooting across the garage.

I imagine some supplier of odd parts caries these. Does anyone know, or has anyone found a source?

Thanks,

A ball bearing would probably work. You can buy them at www.mcmaster.com, but you have to buy like 100 of them--and you only need one. Bring the one from your other hub down to your local bike shop and see if they have something similar in size.

x2 any competent bike shop should have what you need for $.25

And if all else fails, see if these guys have what you need. OK, you'll need to by 100, but at $3 who cares.

I had this same problem last week and posted about it as well. I am heading on Wednesday to a bearing and spring supply store (a small but reputable outfit near my house). I am hoping that they can help me ID the bearing and spring such that I can replace them easily....rather than going through the dealer or winging it...

I called the bearing shop this afternoon. He said he'll have no problem sourcing an exact match. I'll post the results when I have them.

Another options would be to go to a boneyard and pull just the cover off a hub. All AISIN hubs through the Tacoma use the same cover.

Thanks man - I called the local hobby shop, they need a manufacturer, and preferably a P/N.

Can you recall these tidbits?

Thanks man!

Tell them you need a 2 speed maintenance kit for an API RS4. The part number of the kit I bougth at a local hobby store in 2/05 is a #49442587088882 for $5.00

The kit is going to have a bunch of other stuff in it you won't recognize/need but has the spring and detent ball that worked well for me. Several of the other suggestions are good ones too. Good luck.

Alright!

I found some of these BB's! I'll be putting my hubs together tonight!!!

I can send 5 freebies out to the first 5 PM's (limit 1 each), don't forget to include your address.

After those 5 are gone, I'll take a $2 paypal to cover costs. PM me for details
