Have been buttoning up a ton of little things, like it didn't have seats, throttle pedal, heater was hanging by the hoses, etc, etc, mundane things not worthy of pix. Also figured out that; if it wont pump fuel, putting some in the tank is helpful!:hillbilly:

Anyway, the new line, only used about half of it, the part on the left.

Went gallivanting around the parking lot, even hit the curb for tradition! At parking lot speeds, tracks straight, has good assist, got the steering box and wheel centered, progress!

Needs a few things to hit the big roads, like, licence plate, lights, bumper, etc, work on that in the morning.

The bib is off because of superstition, it went something like: Put everything together, lined it up, looking good, the P/S line leaked, :censor:, take it back apart. Get it back together, pour coolant in, dripping from the drain petcock, snug it up tight, still dripping, attempt to loosen, locks solid,,, :censor: back apart to pull the radiator. So, we wanted to be sure, or somewhat more confident, that it was good to go, or maybe just didn't feel like putting it back on, again, yet?:hillbilly:

The "battery expert" deemed that terminal OK, I'm thinking replace/upgrade?:hillbilly:

The band clamp on the air filter was contacting/binding the choke in that orientation, moved it towards the front, done.

Kevin you are going to hate this Idea but coming from a guy who owned his own car stereo business. This is the way I will be going:

for a couple of reasons, when you put just a bit of silicon on the post you will not get corrosion. second you can add accessories such as lights and winches and such straight from the terminal without splicing figuring out where you will pop it into the fuse box. this thing is awesome I have had them on my last 4 trucks.

for those who may not know: three weeks after the 40 went into the shop, I had foot surgery - hanging around in Arizona for a month after that gave me the opportunity to "supervise" the work on the 40 :hillbilly:

with the foot in casts for the first four weeks I propelled myself with the gimp leg on a knee walker, and for the past three weeks I have been in a rigid boot shell and can hobble short distances - I just flew from Baton Rouge back to Arizona with my walker, didn't need the wheelchair people at the airports :D

for the times when I wanted/needed to get around town by myself (like to check progress on the 40 ;p), I rented a car with hand controls - for acceleration, I use the right hand lever, and I have the left foot braking practiced pretty well by now :hillbilly: :steer: [BTW, major rental car companies provide hand control vehicles for the same price as a regular rental]

so yeah, not only will I have to relearn walking - driving with the right foot will need to be relearned as well :steer:

the current plan for Saturday is that I will be gimping as a passenger in my own truck :eek:

Could I get some rough dimensions on that 62 power steering hose, like the distance from each 90 in the hard line where goes across the front and then the distance from each 90 to the fittings on the end.

I see you have cut it up already, but just a rough length. I'm curious if it is long enough to reach the factory location of the steering box on a 40. From what I have been able to determine it may be too short, but it looks like you had all kinds of material there to work with.

I like the idea of hard lines across the front under the radiator, as opposed to having a full length rubber hose made up at the local parts place.

Also, maybe I missed it, but I asked previously what belt you ended up running on the 62 pump. I'm doing the same setup this winter, 62 pump to a OEM FJ40 power steering box on a 1F.

The belt is a Gates TR22545. Will see what we can do about the hose. My guess, will be a bit short to reach a stock location box?

You have to lengthen the HP side soft line, I had a local shop make mine up by clamping on to the stock piece. This is a 3FE in a 40 using the stock 62 pump and hardline to a mini box. The 62 box is further forward -

It went out on the big roads and a bit of off road! The testing mostly went well, happy, just a couple of minor issues to work. :cool:

Wish Claudia could drive it, would give better feedback. It has been a long time since I drove it on the highway, and have little seat time in it, so, apparently can't properly drive it?:o:hillbilly:

:lol: it was fun to be the passenger - although everything just looks so wrong from that perspective
 
Ok I am officially jealous. I wish I could have made it out to this. Hopefully you are done so we can get kicking on mine.

yup, it was on the first page of this thread ;p

the H55 is the reason for the body lift
