Hoser now you've had the assembly for a while, what observations do you have regarding before and after performance , economy et etc ??

By the way $450 ish is a good price. Did that include the air filter element??

No difference in power, fuel economy or noise that I can tell. The jury is still out on filtering capacity. But I mainly purchased the air box to be able to fit a full sized aux battery up front.

filter will be included in assembly.

I got full assembly yesterday. Damn it is a big piece of plastic. Check Classifieds for the price. https://forum.ih8mud.com/sale-parts/595884-100-series-2uz-fe-jdm-oem-cyclonic-air-filter-full-assembly.html#post7644843

Unfortunately no...:crybaby::crybaby::crybaby::crybaby::crybaby: I had big surprise on my bill for the shipping when i picked up these 2 parts at a shipper's depot.

If you are really interested i may sell for the price at my loss. pm me. I just want to move the box out of my storage as i have sub tanks coming in next shipment.

I wont bring these parts ever again unless somewone will pay $$$:whoops:

Bringing this from the dead because it looks like somebody is manufacturing an aftermarket cyclonic airbox for the FZJ100 for cheap AU$169. Briefly looking at it, it looks like the bottom section is the same as the UZJ100 version but the lid is different and doesn't have the provision for the MAF sensor. Fortunately, the lid PN (17705‑50090) is the cheaper part at ~ US$100. The resonator also does not come with it.

If somebody has an FZJ100 with this air box, we can compare measurements.

Several options here but perhaps the cheapest one would be to buy this box and then fabricate a straight tube that is the same diameter as stock (eliminating the resonator) with a provision for the MAF sensor.

Nice find hoser. I'd be in for one if the details get sorted out and there ends up with a group buy/combined shipment.

I've been in contact with a few of my Aussie friends to see if we can get this over here in a few numbers. Unfortunately, it's still fairly expensive to bring in these air cleaners plus washable filters

Yes, and that someone who will pay $$$ is me. Just placed my order with Yan for the box, filter, resonator /intake tube, a matching power steering reservoir with brackets, the correct power steering hose and a few other bits needed to do the job.

I did it all for the second battery, gonna put another DH Platinum Marine G31 battery for all accessories. Thanks again Yan! Looking forward to getting the parts so I can finally finish my electrical system. I have about $2000 in stuff, toys to install that have been waiting on the AUX battery to finish. (arb roller drawer with roller floor with fit kit, arb 63l fridge, pure sine wave inverter with remote and auto transfer switch, ironman 275 amp dual battery kit, a few more blue sea fuse blocks, 20 more feet of shielded 2/0 ultra fine strand welding cable, two sets of mil battery terminals and a puma 1.5 gallon compressor.) I am also going to add a waterproof genie 2 bank charger and a couple of waterproof male 110v receptacles, one for the genie charger and one for the inverter auto transfer switch. I dumped a sh-iat load of money into the air box setup, but once I get the $2plus k of parts permanently installed it will all be worth it. I have been collecting this stuff over the last year. I still have a full hand throttle setup with the correct pedal with counter weight that I got from Yan a year ago which needs to be installed.

Thanks to the tread starter so I knew what to order to finally get my project moving along!!!

just FYI i purchased the Chinese copy on Oz eBay that 100TD posted the link for.

The top is not for the UZJ100 2UZ-FE V8 as there's no provision for the MAF sensor.

My top fits the base though.

The reason i bought it was because i wanted to perform the airbox mod on the base that's on the lcool.org forums and i didn't want to make any mistakes with my factory Aussie cyclonic airbox.

The base is made well enough but where the clips are is of poor quality. One of the clips fell off when i took it out of the box and another looked like it was ready to fall off leaving me with just one clip. My factory filter fitted in ok but it was a lot harder to get it to seat properly. The top fitted ok but didn't clamp down too well.

Both are solvable issues by using other clamps and trimming the rubber that the filter sits on. I noticed that the Ultragauge showed a higher IAT (intake air temp) than normal so it hadn't fully sealed which is what i thought would happen.

I put my factory base back in and the Chinese copy is in my garage.

Thanks for that update, I saw the eBay one but felt it was with the extra to go OEM. You just confirmed that. Sorry it didn't work out for you (waste of money) but I feel better about the small fortune I spent on the all OEM solution.

Thanks,
Kirk

yeah it was cheaper than chopping up the OEM one !! I still may put the Chinese base back in if i can find the right clips/clamps and sort out the seating of the filter. I'd then do the full mod and cut out the tube that goes into the inner guard and replace it with a stainless tube like some have done or PVC pipe. I bought all the bits (rubber elbows, 3.5" to 3" reduction thingamy and the PVC pipe) over 2 years ago and it's been sitting in the garage gathering dust!

I removed the metal innards and the non-spinning turbine from the Chinese one for my initial test, and the next step is as i mentioned above to do the tube replacement. If i find some clamps (some have mentioned some local Ford clamps might work in the sticky at lcool.org) then i'll post some pics.

The throttle response i have now is fantastic since i replaced my older Safari snorkel with that 4" custom stainless one. But i guess the inner tube is about 2 maybe 2 1/4 inches compared to 3" if i do the full mod.

More available air is good air!

Kirk, I'm not sure you can fit a G31 battery on the passenger side unless you relocate the PS somewhere else than pictured. The stock sized Group 27 fits fine though. Group 27F is the stock size but Group 27 would be optimal since it has the terminals on the correct size.

You don't need another or different Power Steering reservoir/bracket. Just use the same one that came with your LX.

TJM USA does carry the Australian spec battery tray (for cyclonic air box) that comes with the correct PS hose.

Thanks for the reply. Apparently I made the mistake of assuming that since I got a 31 on the drivers side I could do the same on the passenger side. I want to use DH Plat marine due to the warranty so I will have my neighbor who is a machinist / fabricator make a tray and clamp that fits and will mount the new PS res. Looks a little tight from your pic. I appreciate the link to the tray / rez kit, but it's too late for me. I already ordered the bundle from Yan.

I took a quick look under the hood amd the the problem with a G31. It's the AC line I think the power steering res is manageable, the AC line looks like it could be a deal killer. I wish I had known this before. Hmm.

Just wire the starting battery on the passenger side and use your existing group 31 for accessories. I know you said you wanted to use the DHP Marine G31 because of the warranty but actually the DHP auto batteries have the better warranty. 4 years vs 3.

Good point about the warranty. I don't know if I want to go through the trouble of dealing with the small fuse block that attached to the starting battery. Using a DHP G27 battery on the passenger side is not the end of the world. I didn't want to have to use a g34 sized one. I will use a Slee tray once I finally give up on my AHC and can put a second AUX there to make up for the differences in ah and RC from a DHP31M and a DHP27. Thanks, that makes me feel a little better. I guess I will just stick with the custom tray and my current order from AKELLA.

Well, there is no DHP G27... but there is a G65 that is about the same size and has the terminals on the correct side.
