I'm pretty sure that if someday I got the op to drive a RHD Car .. start in 5ft and try to engage 2nd .................... :grinpimp:

I stopped in at Piers Diesel today. They don't install for anything but Dodge, Ford or Chevy. So I've ordered my guages. We had a close look at A-pod molded gauge pods, but none of them fit very well. So I'm going to go with individual holders and mount them on the A-pillar. I'm going with boost, pyro (same models as Nick) and I'll pick an AT temp gauge when I pick up the pods (on order right now).

Nick, since you asked, I can hold onto the spare handle if you want it, but it's a light brown colour. It's going to be a while till this is done (until I can get the truck to Ciaran).

I know Nick had a post about a specific brand of guages. Are there several brands that are particularly good? Anything to avoid? I'm going to get Ciaran to install some guages for me when I take the truck over. Just trying to decide which ones and what brand.

I like the VDO gauges. Very easy to read, and nicely back-lit (with a red needle that lights up).

Here's a pic of my gauge cluster. Boost pressure, tranny temp, EGT (pre-turbo) and onboard air tank pressure.

Update: full set of gauges (Pyro, boost and AT temp) with pods for A pillar mount was $450 including taxes at PDR. That includes all sensors and other necessary items. That is just the gauges. Not installed, yet. ATEB is looking after that this coming week.

Managed to fit the gauges if the same place as NickW.Tried a mount from a local accessories shop but was too big and the gear lever fouled the mount in top.Made one up and by spacing the gauges closer together and cutting away the bottom left corner the lever JUST clears it.Not ideal though cos the gear knob obscures the boost gauge when in top so may be looking to scratch build or adapt a pillar mount from another vehicle in the near future.Pyro's in full view though.Only thing left to do is fit the TC but the jury's still out for me on the pre or post turbo argument so not decided yet.

Do I need a turbo boost gauge?

Yes, it would be in idea. You can then see what boost you are making, in conjuntion with your reading of 1100F post turbo probe (which is on the "quite hot" side of things). You can then play with your boost, and see the effect on your EGT's in different situations.

RedStang ( Julio ) are great dude .. freaking smart guy :D

Truck into ATEB today. The plan is to mount the gauges on the A pillar. I got a set of ISSPro gauges and ISSPro pod holders. The A pillar on the cruiser is too narrow for any premolded abs plastic holder to work, and they're all for LHD here. So I figured the separate pods would work better. Got them in black. It's going to be a few days till I get the truck back because they are doing quite a few other things as well.

Thanks for the compliments, Yes that handle is for the PTO winch. I love that thing. Never quits and can be as fast or as slow as I want. The other switchs are for the rear A/C and Secondary Tank. It also has that little refrigerator that goes under the armrest.

Most of the VX cruisers down here have those options . Though the winch option is pretty rare. Which is the main reason I bought it. Tapage is a buddy of mine, and his 80 also has the rear A/C, subTank and cooler. But his is automatic. Its super Clean.

The original motor in this cruiser was a 1FZ. Carbureated. I since swapped in a 1HZ and have a turbo setup from a 1HDT ready to install. I really need it as the pyro reaches 1250F easily at freeway speeds. I drive the snot outa this rig, about 150km per day on week days, and love it. Can't wait to turbo it. Hopefully later this month.
