Lots of power steering work this weekend it looks like! Pump was leaking, pulley was welded on with some rust so had to get creative. Doing the lower radiator hoses while I’m in this side of the engine. Those things suck! Even with a clear path it was still a chore.
Wow I opened this post and did a double take, thought that was my 80! 1992 as well!
I have no real helpful info to add. I’m on 35s with stock brakes and IMO if you refresh all components and get a really good bleed using a vacuum bleeder they are adequate.
It’s hard to tell in the pictures but it does have the double pulley. The warning label is covering it.
I spoke with a mechanic friend and apparently all the box stores share the same stock from China and just rebrand/rebox parts as needed. He has gotten “duralast” parts from Napa before...
That is correct, it even notes online that it is an exact fit, however it is the 90 amp internal fan. I even confirmed over the phone with parts before pickup and it was still the 90 amp unit. As far as I’m aware Toyota has discontinued remanufacturing of the 80 amp external units.
The alternator in my 3FE equipped 92 FJ80 s*** the bed a while back. There are multiple threads on here discussing the 80 amp external fan, which is the one my truck came with, and how it’s gotten harder to find a good Denso unit over the years so I won’t go into much detail about that.
I’ve...
Drove 5 hours out to Reno area for some light wheeling and camping with a bunch of buddies. Old girl only threw 2 CELs and was spitting diff fluid out my ARB solenoid. Good times were had.
Annual trip wheeling trip with friends this weekend. This time we were up north of Reno plus a little bit in the Tahoe area. The Jeeps had some issues with overheating coolant systems and tcase wouldn’t go into 4 high or low. Toyotas had none as usual :flipoff2:
Just got back from Death Valley. It was our first big trip in our new to us FJ80. The 3fe ran great besides pulling grades at 45mph with the pedal to the floor, really puts the “cruise” in Land Cruiser LOL!
It was so much better to camp out of than my old Tacoma although damn this thing is...
New SuperPro rear sway bar links. Was getting loud binding at articulation and these fixed it right up! Got Tom Woods driveshafts , new Toyota belts, and some Delta goodies coming. We have our first big trip with the 80 later this month to Death Valley. Trying to go over the car with a fine...
