2005 LC 208,000 Miles Dealer Repair Quote

Thank you for that! I'll make sure the shop is aware. Also, I'll be placing an order for your YMD1 Key FOB... been wanting to for a while, but now that I'm investing some time and money back in my 100 I think it's time. Thanks again for the advice.

2005 LC 208,000 Miles Dealer Repair Quote

Thanks for the advice so far... I had the dealer hold off on everything other than the hoses since they already started on them. I gave TopLine Performance in Huntington Beach a call and will take it to them for what is at least 30% less than the dealer... and I feel much better about it...

2005 LC 208,000 Miles Dealer Repair Quote

Hey everyone, Quick post to check the quote for the work that my 2005 LC with over 200k needs - I brought my truck into the toyota dealer here in Costa Mesa, CA yesterday for a regular oil & fluid change. I knew it was in need of more maintenance so I wanted a full inspection. in addition...

    Door Lock Actuator Replacement

I ended up replacing the actuator with a new one and that seems to ( fingers crossed) do the trick. I went ahead and ordered this one off Amazon - It was $29.00 instead of the previous one that was half that, but this one is much sturdier feeling and has screws in the casing for taking it...

    Door Lock Actuator Replacement

My passenger door is starting to act up with the Camry replacement actuator. It's giving me a loud buzz like the gears are grinding and then it stopped working. I opened up the door panel and took the actuator out and couldn't see anything obvious and dry testing it out of the door it moves but...

    Door Lock Actuator Replacement

Swapping a Camry actuator is a lot less work than replacing the motor in the OEM actuator. The arm piece pops right out of the Camry actuator but you will have to pry apart the OEM, but wasn't a big deal when I did it - came apart with a putty knife. the old arm will then just slip into the new...

    Door Lock Actuator Replacement

Well... I posted too soon. Both door locks stopped working right after I posted this :P I went back in and fixed them; here's the scoop to save you from making the same mistake I did - the white arms from the old actuator had a black gasket O-ring that needed to be removed before fitting it in...

    Door Lock Actuator Replacement

Ok, I did the driver door today in half the time and 75% less cussing and blood. Both the yellow and orange clips that hold the arms to the door locks came off without having to use anything other than a flathead to push them off. the hardest part for me on both doors was the getting the...

    Door Lock Actuator Replacement

I did the passenger door on my 2005 today with information from this thread, Camry actuator ordered from Amazon...and the "removing the door panel" thread. I'm not going to say it was easy, but with basic tools and my suspect patience, and a few diversions I was able to do it in about 4hrs...

Awesome thread! Please keep chronicling this build and resulting adventures so I can vicariously live out my African expedition fantasies.
