Tried these out for a month via discount tire before switching to Def LTX ms2s. The recons were legit though. Much smoother riding than their looks would suggest. Quieter than expected too. Not much real AT testing. I switched because with the 25mm offset wheels I paired them with and that...
Couple thousand mile update:
285/70/17 Es riding amazing still. Don’t sleep on these thinking some sort of major ride penalty. It is improved imo. Never would have thought but really really liking the overall package here. Tip of the cap to the Michelin boys on this one.
Just finished this project & went old school - hacksawed the little stub while still attached. Now the new wheel (vector 5 in my case) is sturdily held up underneath but a final question:
What are you guys doing with the slack/dangle chain portion? Seems like it will scratch the new wheel face...
Def Ltx ms2 vote here. Got LTs but still ride impressively comfortable at 40 psi. Like the slightly better sidewall design too. Tow similar to your weight & so far so good. Good luck w decision. Good choices for sure.
Thanks man. Much appreciate it. So let’s say I put the oem wheel and tire size back on to sell 30 years from now - does the oem wheel no longer properly secure underneath after that cut?
What 18” tire out there is 32.8” (or very close to it)? Need a spare to fit on 18” oems if poss. as the icons on pre 2016 LCs require some sort of cutting and manipulating the chain holder pc. to fit as spare - and I don’t want to get into all that if at all possible.
Conti AT P275/65/18. Great tires. Liking these just as much and a bit more I think. Still early. Check that thread link above - lots of feedback in there from me and many others.
Been using LT285/70/17E Def Ltx ms2s for about 2 months+-. Perfect tire for this truck for all around comfort, performance, mpg and durability - for all those not hitting mud bogs on the weekends.
Post pics when mounted please. I have really like the new sidewall design in person (on 25 mm...
LT vs P - but they ride similarly (great). A touch firmer on the LTs I suppose but it is negligible. That fractional firmness is a positive/ improvement in braking, handling, and general daily driving imo. Again it is close though. Both are silent as expected.
