Solid advice @BILT4ME. Much appreciated. Looking back at my records, I really slacked on the interval this time. I went 8700 miles! I have a 4,000 mile interval on my windshield sticker now, so let's see if I can pull my head out of my @$$ and take care of the old girl a little better.

I have consistently used Mobil 1 5/40 when I change the oil, but sometimes I buy the high mileage one, sometimes not. A couple oil changes ago I used Valvoline at a quicky lube near Glacier National Park in the middle of a giant road trip. I can't imagine changing brands would make that much of...

I am not sure the cause or source of the aluminum (Blackstone says pistons) but I plan to shorten the oil change interval and also change my air filter to make sure I'm not sucking in any abrasives.

Here's my latest report. I plan to send a sample with each oil change for a while to see if the aluminum numbers come down. I'm not sure what may have caused that issue, but I have been using the truck a lot more - and probably pushing it pretty hard on the highway.

I’m thrashing on final prep. Really looking forward to this. Where can I find a full schedule of the event? Other than the Wagon Run, I’m not sure what else I can participate in. I’m trying to figure out when to visit my son in Santa Cruz (and leave my truck) before I fly back to Atlanta.

Three years in, my Koso is working great. Tint in place, too. The only issue I had was the display flashing (indicating over-temp condition). Turns out it was a pinched wire grounding out the gauge.

I'm down for Coppinger - assuming I get my rear diff and axles buttoned up and shaken down. Hopefully it will be a cheaper weekend than Choccolocco. :meh:

I snapped the passenger rear Nitro axle at Choccolocco this weekend. The ACC gang were a huge help to get me back to camp where I dropped the driveshaft before making the ~2 hour drive home in my front-wheel-drive Toyota. :steer:

"Well there's your problem right there." Thanks to all the ACC friends and family who helped get me off the trail today. One axle came out whole, the other was snapped near the flange. I wonder if my Harrop e-locker was acting like an open diff after the snap because it didn't have enough...
