Hey all,
just doing some research for a future project with a restomod FJ40. I am looking to use something like the Ididit steering column in the project. However, there is no clock spring option available and I intend to add a steering wheel with controls for the radio and so I need one...
Yea when I lived there I did occasionally see some. I guess I should update my location but seeing as I am only temporarily living in the Portland OR area, not sure how long I will be here. I liked living there but there are not so many jobs in the mechanical engineering field there. I just...
well its probably best to just measure the distance around the curve and since we know its a 90 degree bend we can find the radius that way. could you just hold up a string or something and aproximate as close as you can where the bend starts and ends, then measure the length of that string?
So I've scoured the entire first page of google searching for the dimension for the radius of the FJ40 tub rear corners and can't find a mention anywhere of the actual size. Does anyone have it? I am trying to do a mock up in CAD for a future project and currently do not own an FJ.
Good idea with the aluminum filler rod.
So you are fabricating your own steering column? This will be interesting to see. I was thinking about going with an ididit column whenever I got around to starting my project but if yours turns out good maybe I would also custom fabricate one.
Have any...
Cool build! and very unique. Just wondering, do you have any close up pics of the vents on the front of the roof? I am interested to see how those are assembled and work.
just a question about the rpm target. if you could pick and choose, what would be the ideal rpm for highway speed that will give you good economy but still be able to pass someone with ease? I saw that gear ratio rpm calculator switches from efficient to performance at 2000 rpm but how gradual...
if you don't mind loosing manual, then I'd probably do the 5.3 LS with 4L60E. I haven't run any of these but from looking at the engines specs and hearing of the reliability of any of the 4L trans options, I would be more than confident I would be satisfied with it. Especially if you put one of...
