Update. I ordered a refurbished VAF from eBay for $400 and took it to my local mechanic. Nelsons Garage in Cayuco, Ca very capable and knowledgeable about Landcruisers. He swapped the VAFs and the new one did not work at all. Super bummed, so now the old one is back and being held in place with...
Desperate times call for desperate measures. I just purchased a refurbished OEM VAF from EBay for $380. Did some haggling but that as low as he would go. I believe he has a few more at that price as well if anyone is interested. “stopnandshop“ is the seller. And effjay80 I found a “Bavarian...
I’ll look into that. Thanks for the tip. My mechanic does specialize in 4x4 and always has 80’s in the shop. He just was at his “I don’t know what else to tell you“. Thinking about going to Toyota service and maybe they have can figure it out.
So I posted another thread a few months ago about rough idle and stalling. I narrowed it down to the connection of the wire harness with the MAF. I was able to find a new OEM connector from my local Toyota and replaced the wires with OEM as well. Unfortunately it didn’t help the loose connection...
It’s definetly the wires. Just south of the connector, maybe 1” or so. When you press them or slightly wiggle it, the engine will stall. I can maybe cut and splice with new wire, but being so close to the connector I’m not sure if I will have enough real estate. Hoping that to be a final option.
Hey everyone, I have failing wires at the connector to the VAF Sensor, which is causing poor acceleration and stalling at idle. Ive searched for a part number for the connector and wiring with no success. I don‘t think a new VAF sensor comes with the wiring harness. Any idea on where I can find...
Hey guys. Finally getting ready to replace the PHH on my 94 with 220k. Been putting it off for years as it looks good. It still has the original Toyota clamps and assume it has never been done. I had a catastrophic radiator failure the other day and I’m doing a complete cooling system...
FIXED!!! So my 94 had reverse slippage, wouldn’t stay in low gear when shifter was placed in low gear same with 2nd. Reverse lights not working. Door ajar not working. Dash gear indicator lights all not working. Replaced the NSS. Old plug had lots of corrosion. Plug the new one in and nothing😖...
This just happened to me the other day with my 94 Reversing up hill to let let another vehicle pass on a narrow road. I noticed my reverse lights not working 3-4 months ago and my lights are out on my dash and column. Did you ever replace your NSS or clean the connection that trollhole mentioned?
Well this was disappointing read. I'm having baby #3 and need to sell my 2001 4runner for a bigger vehicle. My wife wants a Minvan, but I was hoping for a diesel TLC(roughly the same MPG). Does anyone know why these import laws on diesels are put in place?
Thanks for the upload. So I followed your lead and grinded off the lid, replaced the charcoal and filter paper. Reassembled and sealed it with RTV. I sprayed brake cleaner and compress air into the tank valve. How easy was it to blow through port? I was able to move air, but I felt like it was...
