I have a 91 fj80 and the engine develops a miss around and above 2,000 rpm. Real low power output too. Idles sweet and timing is perfect. Just seems to happen under load. Any of you learned folks have an idea on what it could be?
I'm a diesel guy, never done much with petrol.
Did you take many pics of the frame mods? Keen to see/hear how you went about it. Ive seen wagoneers thread where he took however many inches from the chassis and then just pulled the rear chassis legs together and welded her up.
So did you end up selling it? I've just spent the last week reading this on and off.. Amazing work on the bed. Amazing!! Real credit to you.
Love the way it looks modified while still looking standard, if you get my drift.
When my 24v alternator crapped itself I had no luck finding a replacement with a vac pump. I ended up getting my old one re-wired/rewound. Cost a fair bit, but I ended up with a 24v alternator that puts out up to 80 amps!! I'm in Aus though. There may be different items available to you.
You'll love the power of the 12h-t. I have 2 of them. One is going in my hj47 ute. I wouldn't quite call them a unicorn engine though! Maybe in the states because of their 25 year import laws, but they're more then plentiful here in Aus.
Sure your front calipers aren't seized?
Just to be clear, when you say you pulled them apart, did you take the calipers off and try and push the piston back into the caliper fully?
Can always jack up the front, remove the wheels, get someone to press the brake pedal while you're trying to turn...
