    Dust infiltration

Got sick of that too. Fwiw. When I had my everything apart I packed the quarter panel pockets with chucks of open cell foam. I have prob 3-4 cubic feet stuffed in there and around things on both sides. (Not dense enough to completely compress the foam) on the theory that it will catch dust...

    Reverse Circuit - Low Voltwge

I tapped mine between the reverse bulb and the harness, used a posi-tap. Super easy spot to do it. I’m pretty sure it’s the red with blue stripe, but you can follow it right off the bulb to be sure

OME lift kit/suspension. Heavy load vs medium load

IMO. Worth it. After test driving a friends 80 w/ OME, I knew that’s what I didn’t want. Nice comparison table! Plus the fade resistance + long maintenance interval + rebuildable + dang man, they are built like a tank. I really happy with mine + their variable rate springs. I bet the...

OME lift kit/suspension. Heavy load vs medium load

Makes sense. I was looking at that same kit too for a long time, I think it’s a good choice for sure. Really, one of the reasons I went with the Dobi kit because there was a dude I could call at Exit Offroad, and great service is worth paying for these days. If you look for @crikeymike the guy...

OME lift kit/suspension. Heavy load vs medium load

Prob no such thing as a mild 3" lift for under $1k. I went through this and decided to stay under 2.5" as the price escalates quickly to correct the rig's geometry (front and rear), and once you are down that 3" road you need to consider replacing a variety of components too (think panhard...

45 minutes on this, what the heck?

Lol. All good. On the version I bought, the plate s were too chunky and didn’t fit under the gear so....returned that and used a 3 arm puller, but I cut the fingers off and old glove and slipped them over the arms. Protected the gear. Worked great.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Same springs here, but went with the IMS. I’m finding the ride to be spot on, loaded or unloaded. Not noticing a huge change. Only about an inch of stink bug unloaded. Levels out pretty well loaded. Added more thoughts on the IMS thread.

Dobinsons IMS Monotube Shocks for 80 Series - Internal resi Monotube Shocks

UPDATE: just got back from the first trail ride. About 80 miles on dirt fireroads and some slightly choppier dirt trails, in slushy, mud and snow, and about 200 on the highway, and 80 miles on twisty back country roads. Fully packed out with two kids, food water, gear, etc. Initial...

PSA - You NEED an impact wrench!

IIRC, I don't think the FSM actually tells you which is what on this...however you can also tell by looking at where the washers are vs where the flanged bits are which has the barbie point bits. Point is I was shocked the ryobi worked to back these off. Retorquing them was right at the limit...

PSA - You NEED an impact wrench!

I have several Milwaukee tools, love them all. In december went to pick up their 18v 1/2" impact wrench....and ended up buying a Ryobi 1/2" impact with a big 4 amp battery for $99. Figured if it sucked, would return or just add it to the trail bag. Well, dang....it has done everything I've...
