    Heater Hose question

I would replace the heater valve. Yours isn’t the worst I’ve seen, but that is one way those heater hoses start to leak.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Thanks George. The mil spec I am currently running is limiting. I was also considering a bulkhead type option too.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Where did you get the battery terminals on your starting battery? I’ve been looking for something like those for ages.

City Racer 16” wheels with Yokohama M/T G2003s and KM3

That is good to hear. I was not very kind to these tires. I was lax on rotations, did not include the spare and ran at lower pressures more often than I should have. I really do like these tires. They perform so well in the rocky/loose shale trails.

    Charging Mystery

The mystery was circumvented and I got everything charging. Thanks to @alia176 and @Corbet for the help. The house battery charging on a cold engine finally stopped working altogether. This really helped as I was able to identify that the midi fuse feeding the DC-DC charger is what failed. I...

City Racer 16” wheels with Yokohama M/T G2003s and KM3

I forgot how quiet these are new. I promise this time not to abuse my tires this time

City Racer 16” wheels with Yokohama M/T G2003s and KM3

5 years and 25K miles later my set of G003 are mostly worn out. I’ve been really happy with them and having a new set put on tomorrow. They have had much more road noise the 3K miles. I could have gotten another 5K miles out of them if I did a 5 tire rotation or have been nicer to them. There is...

Might be time for a new axle housing

Dang Ali, your adventure was much more exciting than mine. Glad you made it home in OK.

Simple solar to assist with fridge while parked

Since I was dipping my toes into the whole “fridge/battery” thing, I was counting my pennies. The $75 SunSaver was much less expensive than the DC-DC charger with MPPT that I use now. The funny thing is I really don’t need solar much any more. My 100Ah lithium will run everything I need for...

Simple solar to assist with fridge while parked

Don’t regret the PWM charge controller. That is what I used with my first solar set up and it worked great. I upgraded my system when I fell across a super deal. My first set up was only a solar generator. I’d run the fridge off the starting battery until I got to camp and switched over to the...

    Official FRIDGE Thread

I have the ARB 47qt and love it. I had some second battery charging issues on a recent trip to SW Colorado. Over that week it took to get sorted it used about 50Ah over 7 full days set to 42ºF. Day time temps were cool except for the three days in Durango.

    270° Rhinorack Batwing 60% Off

This is quite the bargain. I’ve wanted an awning for awhile, but couldn’t pull the trigger. For ~$400 I can damn well put up with it needing poles. First trip went great. It handled some severe monsoon rain/wind. It is very light and I can mount it to the roof rack by myself easily. Set up and...

    Charging Mystery

TL;DR Highway trip notice house battery wasn’t charging. At campsite a couple of hours later starting battery registering 12.86V with the car running or not. No charge light came on, but is on with all the other dash lights with the key set to ignition. Start diagnosing this morning and it is...
