The latch that holds the lid to the center console on my 94 80 broke.

Do any aftermarket vendors you are aware of have a replacement?

Are there any adhesives that hold up to a repair on a part like this?

For future searchers:

Looks like it is used in a few different Toyotas (4Runner, Prius, xB, Rav4, Yaris, Avon, T100, Corolla) and is available both OEM and aftermarket.

58908-12050 or 58908-12080

And if anyone needs the other latch that holds the upper lid down, here is that part:

58908-33030

Hijacking to see if someone knows whether there were rubber pads between both compartments. I see indentations where rubber pads might have lived, but my rig never had anything there. There is small play when I lift either the upper or lower lid, so I assume there used to be something there to take up that gap and provide some preload.

I don't know what the original configuration was, but I put small rubber pads in mine from the hardware store.

Man my upper latch was broke for like two years and I’d forget and then yard sale the top console’s contents all over the back floor. Finally got a new latch back in May.

Toyota does not sell that 80-series console lid latch as a standalone part — the EPC only lists the whole lid — which is why you will not find a new OEM hook at the dealer. Aftermarket latches do exist (Trail Teq in AU, and Delta VS has offered a Toyota-sourced latch when they have stock), and those are the cleanest new-part route. Super glue and JB Weld will hold for a week and then yard-sale the contents the first time someone leans on the lid. If the upper catch on the console body is also worn oval, replace or shim that too or a new latch will chew itself up. A used lid off a parts truck is the other reliable option if you want OEM plastic that still has a live spring.

4x4 Rides in Hagerstown, MD parts out a bunch of 80s and 100s and ships — worth a search if you cannot find a used latch locally.

I picked one up out of 90's Camry at the junkyard. It fit exactly and does the job. They are not exactly the same, but it does the same job. $5.
