@Living in the Past I have been thinking of rebuilding that steering box. I believe mine is a mini truck one. It was in the 40 when I got it. I’ll have to delve into the search history when I start that. I remember seeing some how-tos in here.
@charliemeyer007 oh! I didn’t know that? It makes sense. There was a lot of con ferr stuff that came with it. Plus’s I believe the rear transfer case has a con ferr cover on it.
As far as I know I have stock shackles and springs. Heck they might be the original leaf springs! I’ll look again if it has shims tonight. Thank you all for the input!
I’d check with your local Toyota dealer. Mine will tell me if the oem part is available or not and even print me out am IPB. You would be surprised at the parts (especially nuts and bolts) still available. If they are not available I hear McMaster Carr is a good place for bolts.
I did have my wife turn the wheel.hence seeing so much slop in the system. I’ll recheck the pressures from my owners manual. And I didn’t know you could adjust the mini truck power steering. I’ll definitely look into that!
I’ve recently rebuilt the steering linkages and tie rod ends. But I’ll look and the leaf springs and the shocks too. I haven’t lifted the font end to check for any wiggle.
