Had to search when I seen him at Student Hall @ NAU. January 1973. Not sure I should say John Denver's trade make "FAR OUT" or damn I'm old. Probably the latter.
Love how this 75 is coming along. One small detail I couldn't live with, the center console. So many were stepped going between front and back it's assumed that bend it stock. They left the factory flat.
Obviously Watching this thread but need to make sure I have a box of Kleenex - Sam you have done a great job - Glad someone has it who loves cruisers, The buyer I sold it to bought it because he saw one in Cost Rica and "thought it looked cool" I think his tool box was a plastic grocery bag - Sad day for me

Well dangit, now I can't unsee it! I honestly didn't know it was supposed to be flat until just a few days ago. But now that you mentioned it, it's made its way to the top of the list of crap that annoys me- and MUST be fixed.

Well the engine refresh is finally done. After a few test drives, I can confirm that the backfiring is gone and the engine is running as smoothly as a 50 year-old 2F has any right to. It cost twice as much and took about four times as long as I'd planned — but I can't say I regret it. I learned more about this engine than I expected. I also came away with a deeper appreciation for the engine itself. There’s no doubt its simplicity and reliability go hand in hand. Now onto the transmission, and the steering, and the suspension…..

@Living in the Past I cAnt tell you how that answer settled a question I have had for a few decades. It’s been over 50years that I had my brand new ‘74 FJ40 so I don’t remember that the console was flat. When I got the truck my girlfriend at the time stepped from the back to the front and it was bent for all of the time I have had it. Every FJ40 I have had since that time, including my ‘75 now, has had a curved console. Your are 100% right, anyone now would easily believe that “curve” was factory.
Pulling mine tomorrow…and, wife and I had seen a John Denver a bunch of times over the decades
Haven't really done too much to the JD Cruiser lately, mostly because I've been focusing my resources on the newly-acquired 60. I do drive it every chance I get though. And like every proud parent, I take tons of pictures of it. Here's a nice one I thought worth sharing.
