Selling my LS swapped 1997 Fzj80 Land Cruiser that was converted into a camper by the previous owner (@RigMachine). The camper portion is aluminum tube framing with aluminum skinned foam panels. Asking price is $38,000 and located in Denver, CO.

The chassis has 291k miles on it. The drivetrain is a Gen-3 5.3L LS and 4L60e out of a 2001 Silverado with roughly 160k miles on it, huge upgrade in power and drivability over the factor 1FZE. The Gen3 LS motors are notorious for piston slap on start up and this one is no exception, it's noisy when first started but goes away after 5-10min once its warmed up. The transmission is mated to the Land Cruiser HF2A transfer case that has a Marks 4wd part-time kit installed and front lockout hubs have been added. It has a OME lift kit installed and Whiteline HD sway bars front and rear. Up front is a ARB non-winch bumper (PO had a 8k winch mounted so it is possible to add one). I just installed the White-Knuckle offroad step sliders. Tires are 35" Falken WildPeak AT4W with less than 2,000 miles on them mounted on Nomad Arvo wheels. This has been a great combo for both on and offroad.

I reworked the camper interior under my ownership which features new cabinetry, 21 gallons of water capacity, full Victron electrical system, external hot water shower, and a Trelino toilet. Features include:
  • Kuuma 6-gallon water heater - Currently I only have this plumbed up to the engine coolant system, though it can be hooked up to the inverter to power it electrically.
  • The water system utilizes removable 5-gallon Septer jerry cans to be able to easily fill from various water sources
  • Bullfinch adjustable hot water tab mounted to the exterior (same system the FWC utilize)
  • Dometic sink with fold down faucet
  • Electrical system consists of Victron MPPT solar charge controller, Victron Orion XS DC-DC charge controller, Victron Smart Shunt, Victron Lynx, BEP shut off switch, 314Ah Wattcycle lithium battery, 2000w Victron inverter, and a compliment of BlueSeas switches, fuse panels, and breakers.
  • Diesel heater to keep you warm on the cold nights
  • Iceco 12v fridge mounted behind the driver seat

The Bad:
  • Its a northern truck so there is some rust, most of it superficial surface rust, but there is cancerous rust on the core support, driver side rear brake backing plate, gas filler door, and the rear crossmember. All relatively easy fixes that I haven't had time to get to yet. A new core support will go with the camper.
  • Engine oil pan or rear main leak - I'm not 100% sure where the leak is coming from but there is a noticeable leak in this area. Its not a major leak but it will drip on your driveway.
  • Gen-3 LS piston slap: the motor makes noise on cold startup but goes away in 5-10 min once warmed up. Google Gen-3 LS piston slap for a in depth explanation but the consensus is that it does not affect the drivability or reliability of these motors.
  • Pass seat needs a new seat gear to be able to adjust the forward/back motion. I will include the part with the sale.
I have a lot more pictures of the truck but due to upload limits it may be easier just to text me for them at 832-316-2899
