Reluctantly listing my ‘97 FZJ80. Bought it in 2017 and did the build myself after it lived most of its life stock and garaged. We just added a 2004 Lexus LX470 for longer family trips and I can’t justify keeping both, so here we are. If you know these trucks, you know the pitch.
The truck:
• 1997 FZJ80, Collector’s Edition, White over tan leather
• 208,770 miles at last service (barely broken in for a 1FZ-FE)
• VIN: JT3HJ85J7V0185871
• Clean title
• Open differentials (not factory triple-locked)
• Regularly serviced by every owner; garage-kept by me since 2019, and the PO reported it was garaged its first decade-plus by the original owner
• Minimal rust anywhere — undercarriage included.
• Engine is strong and healthy
Just out of the shop — TrollHole’s Cruisers (Simpsonville, SC), June 2026, ~$2,415:
Many of you know the TrollHole’s crew — they’re regarded as some of the leading Land Cruiser experts in the country and have done some incredible builds and restorations (their thread is here on Mud: Trollhole's Cruisers - https://forum.ih8mud.com/forums/trollholes-cruisers.239/, and they’re worth a visit to see the projects on their lot). Work performed at 208,770 mi:
• Spark plugs and plug wires R&R (plugs were fouled; new cord set installed)
• Rear axle seals R&R both sides — hub seals, shaft seals, and flange gaskets
• Rear brake pads R&R; parking brake shoes and hardware replaced (the old shoes were oil-soaked from the leaking axle seals — all addressed)
• Front wheel bearings adjusted/tightened
• Panhard bar hardware tightened — steers and drives tight now, honestly like a new truck
• Cross-checked recommended work from another shop
• EGR delete (EGR test plug kit) — flagging it for anyone in an emissions-test state
They called it a rare low-mileage, low-rust specimen and in great shape for the age. Full invoice available to a serious buyer. The axle issue they sorted traces back to a minor single-vehicle accident during my ownership — fully repaired and documented, records available.
Build / mods:
• ARB bull bar + Badlands 12,000 lb winch (plus two aux high beams — see issues)
• 33” BFG All-Terrains, ~1/3–1/2 tread remaining
• Skyjacker Nitro 8000 shocks x4 (installed 2018)
• Roof crossbars
• Kenwood Excelon head unit — wired Apple CarPlay (not Bluetooth; phone connects and charges, I actually prefer it), with a backup camera
• Alarm system with remote start
• Custom 3D-printed front and rear cup holders (BH3DPrinting on Etsy) that fix the weak factory cupholder setup
• WeatherTech mats throughout — laser-cut, keep the original carpet clean
• Laser-cut neoprene seat covers on the rear bench; front leather is excellent and uncovered
• Wood-grain trim shows some fading (easy/cheap to replace if you want it perfect)
Known issues — full disclosure:
• Could use paint to present as pristine — chips and a couple of small bumper dents (pics). Drives great as-is.
• RR wheel weights lightly contacting the caliper → faint low sound, needs a rebalance. Cheap fix; I’d do it at the next tire change.
• The two bull-bar aux high beams aren’t working — believe it’s a disconnected wire at the switch. Never chased it down.
• Slight leak at the top of the driver’s door above the window — only lets a little water in under extreme exposure (think car wash). Easy seal, just haven’t gotten to it.
Asking $17,900. Located in Greenville, SC. Serious inquiries only. Local PPI strongly encouraged — bring your guy or send one. Can be shipped, but the buyer pays for and arranges all transport. Not looking to part it out. PM here or text (843) 229-0378; more photos and videos on request.
