I HAD MADE SOME CUSTOM FENDER FLARES OUT OF ANOTHER SET BUT I NEED TO REMOVE THE OLD ONES FIRST, anyone know how to take them off without bending or ripping them off

for the front
undo the outside bolts one on each end if i remember right
then open hood and two more inside the little access hole stick your arm in and undo those
fronts pull off
rear is the same undo some outside bolts
get into the truck and pull the plastic back and there is two more bolts to undo from the inside
on the rear the brackets will be left you have to drill out the rivets
get a slightly bigger drill bit and drill out the hole bracket falls off

You'll need to remove your side marker/blinker (couple of screws) up front to access the front most nuts for the front flare.

OP doesn't state which year. I just R/R'd my flares on a 95.

FYI - you can access the front most screw for front flares by loosening the front bumper covers/caps. Bumper caps or marker light, pick your poison

For the rears - I was not left with any brackets on the truck just the two stud holes over the rear fender well; FJ vs FZJ thing? Lots of screws (6-7) at rear mudflap, once removed will leave access to the rear bottom screw holding the flare on that is covered by the bumper covers/corners. As others have mentioned, hike up inside and remove the panels under the sliding windows and remove the 2 10mm nuts on each flare.

I recommend buying new clips (all 16 for my truck) ,mine cracked/broke. #90249-06132

Fronts have two bolts(one on each end) four nuts, and two clips on each flare.

Doors have two clips and two bolts.

Rear has two clips, two nuts and one bolt under the flaps.

Pm me if you need pics. My flares are off atm

WTF??? I PM'd Baktasht about a month ago and I haven't heard anything now this guy is claiming he is making them???

Why in the world would your buddy post up that EMS is making these flares???

Those flares are a passenger side mock up by Baktasht at EMSPowered. The driver side isn't done yet. They still need some work, but I should have the completed full set soon. No big deal for me since I haven't paid them anything and I have one side that I really like. They are solid and they give way if you push on them.

They plan on doing a first run of 10 for testing as soon as some details are worked out. They are keeping a waiting list for only 10 trucks, but they might still have some slots.

I am about 2 weeks or so away from a first offering on ebay. I have not talked about it because I want the bugs to be ironed out and have the first couple of sets ready to go. Baktasht at EMSPowered has been very helpful in preparation and consultation. I would only consider him to be "my buddy" on this project.

The first 20 or so will specifically fit earlier model (91-92) 80's, they will include gaskets, hardware, and will be flexible for durability. They will be more resistant to damage compared to stock flares, but not impervious to damage. They would fit 93-97 except some slight modifications would be needed to the fenders and more involved modifications needed for mud flaps. Flares that are direct bolt ons for 93-97 trucks are also in the works, but will be introduced later.

At the time of introduction I will post a thread.

jamisobe, my earlier post was not very clear, I was talking about Timber that is claiming that he is making these flares? Maybe there is some truth to that? I am just trying to figure everything out? Did not want to make it sound like I was calling you out.

I wish it was the other way around the flare that would fit 97-93 would come out first... but you have to do what works for you!

No problem. Official announcement isn't planned until everything is smoothed out. I don't know anything about what Timber has planned, but when these flares are finished they will be an excellent product.

I don't understand what is going on here, Timber posted a picture of your rig and said they were his flares that he was going to be offering for sale?

I don't know Timber or why he is using a picture of my rig in this manner. He has nothing to with me or those flares you see.
