When I bought my latest 40 it had no interior light. So instead of replacing the original I decided to see what might bring a little more light to the subject. Here's the simple yet very effective solution I came up with.

I bought a basic switch from the auto parts store, and an LED light strip from SuperBriteLED.com. I made a simple plate with a slot for the switch and simpy placed the light strip in the inside lip of the rain gutter.

Superbrite.com part numbers (SE-WFLS-x60 & SE-PC06)

I think it turned out great. Let me know what you think.

Love it. That is sweet

Nicely done. I like how clean it is. Paint the switch panel the trim pewter color an it will almost look OEM...almost.

Ligtening it up

Very nice, but be careful with the lighting effects. Soon you will be putting them under the truck and be doing that low rider thing.

I like it! Looks really good and nice mood lighting too. I just bought this one and am intergrating it into my roll cage above my tuffy console.

Pretty cool!

Years ago I got fed up with not being able to see anything in my cruiser at night, and when you remove the top there goes what little light you had. I drilled and tapped my roll bar on the bottom and put a "festoon" light assembly directly behind the headrests. I ran wire through the roll bar so none on the outside and put a latching pushbutton on the dash in a factory empty hole. It makes for a very nice lighting that does not blind you and is still there when the top is off.

I may have to try some of the replacement LED bulbs as these were not even available when I did this modification......now if I can just get my engine finished...uugghh

Subwoofer

Very nice, but be careful with the lighting effects. Soon you will be putting them under the truck and be doing that low rider thing.

Love it, But first I'll have to get the subwoofer back in, and find some spinners.

HAH

Spinners on a cruiser

I just put an FJ55 dome light on the rollcage of my 40 a couple of weeks ago, and I like it a lot.

I just showed your setup to my wife; FWIW she likes yours better!

Maybe I'll end up with....BOTH!!!

Awesome idea. It's ironic because I was just at Costco today and saw they had a set of 6 remote controlled LED light strips similar to yours that could be chained together. My first thought was adding more interior lights to just like you did. I was waiting to put my headliner back in, but after seeing how yours turned out now I have to go back to costco tomorrow and buy them.

EDIT: Found the lights, I think they were these

Amazon.com: Pelion Link Light LED Lighting System Remote Controlled 6 Feet of LED Lighting - Includes: 6 Light Bars w/ 36 LED's: Home Improvement@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/413AQBm9i2L.@@AMEPARAM@@413AQBm9i2L

but only $30 at Costco.

I am not sure my HJ45 pickup has enough forward momentum to make spinners work:)
I like my factory dome light....who cares if it only illuminates a few inches of the headliner:) ............1978HJ45

dome light

I bought this 72 led battery light from MSC on sale for $15. The magnets held this weekend over 50 miles of logging roads. I stuck it under the hood at one point to check my oil. Bright AND portable.
