Found a purchased a BJ42 sitting in a back yard fior many many years, needs lots of body work.

This is my first build for me and my family, this will be driven by my kids if they want too..... and my daughter already called dibbs...

Hope you enjoy this revival as much I will knowing its mine and will be driven dailey.

Cheers, pictures to come this weeken.

Rob

looking forward to it!

:popcorn:Thanks very much guys for the kind words.

I have been in touch with a cruiser body panel company and hope to get some advice on how to tackle this bit of body work. Squirrels made a home in this rig for many years and it had a real funky smell....
Not sure which direction I should go with this build, but totally stock it will not be. Althought I will not cut up the dash as it is totally stock and clean.

It will get a H55, turbo, intercooler, power steering via old school mini truck box. Sprung over ??not sure yet, prolly go ARB lift.

My kids will be driving it and I do not want it too extreme.

I think I can say that it is pretty hard for me to anticipate any thread more than this one.

I can hardly wait for the pics and buildup....

Dan

Thanks Dan, you have been around for quite awhile and I appreciate your props.

Is it going to be ready for you to drive to "LSLC Round-up" next year?

It will be ready, now weather or not I do the drive in it is another thing:beer:

I like the comfort of the plane.....

Couple shots of the body, frame is awsome....

Supercharge 100 did a great job hauling the little BJ42....

Looks like a good score.

I ESPECIALLY like that radio. Looks to be stock from Toyota?

Why the mini truck PS system? Why not go 60 series and avoid the extra linkages altogether? That was the main reason we did it (and because with the 3B mounted farther forward the starter and the steering box got into fights). I like simplicity...

You got it, thats a factory radio and I even have the factory plate for it.

So do I............ not crazy about some of the extra cutting into factory parts like the fenders.

We have right hand drive 60 series steering boxs that would mount on the inside of the frame?

I will give this option some consideration for sure...

Owner had it since 1983, was only two years old.

Jay at the shop did a 60 series OME kit on a 42 and it worked out pretty good.

Thinking back to a certain Canadian cruiser that came down for CM'08, I'd say fold the windshield down as soon as you can. It may be an eye opener.

Subscribed.:)

Will do Mark, by the looks of the cowl I think I got lucky....

Or are you talking about the windshield frame?

Its coming right apart anyways, off the frame.

Squirrels hell, looks like the spiders took over. Look foward to seeing this build. I would love to find a BJ to restore.

Started doing some cleaning and trying to get a handle on what I need for restration..

Been in touch with Paul Pilgrim and might try to put together a west coast groupe body parts buy, so we can get the cost of the container cheaper..

OK, anytime a fellow 100 owner takes on a 42 project like this, I have to subscribe! ;) Plus I have been yearning for a 40 series to add to the parking lot in front of the house (we have 4 in the garage and drive)!

Good Luck!
