I have a 79 FJ40 in the same color and probably the same amount of rust. What's your plan with the tub? Find a better donor tub or repair the one you got? I am probably going to reapir the one I have by basically reskinning it myself. This will cut down on the amount of $$$ I'll spend on the sheetmetal. here's a pic of mine.

On a side note, I have a Jan 81 FJ40 and the glove box does not have the round keyed entry. Anybody know when the changed the glove box door?

Good lord! I'm happy I live in the southwest, the worst either of my cruisers had was mild rear sill rot.
 
Still on he hunt for body panels to restore this rig or possibly a tub....

Spoke with Paul Pilgram and the shipping is the killer, I would like to go with his products as they are such high quality...

Any other ideas?

what about EBI (extreme bends) for your body panels.... not that far away

To a point.... I much prefer all Toyota (hence Awl_TEQ) parts though I have a GM hydraulic brake booster in my build.

When it comes to a BJ42 I definitely am a purist. I'm not done my 45 build and I find myself watching kijiji for a 42. A nice all original, though very rusty, 42 just went in Edmonton a while back. They were asking bout $6500 and I was counting my pennies. Just didn't have enough :crybaby:.

Might give him a call and see what quality the panels are he sells, maybe jump on the ferrry and have a look first hand...
