Wanted to say hey, and thanks for having me on the board. Looks like a boatload of info here just like Pirate.

Well I bid on this thing on Ebay, won it and picked it up. Only 3 miles from my house. Go figure. Right under my nose the whole time. Not knowing alot about Crusier specifics. He listed it as a 1970 and you would figure as much with no title and the only vin plate on the inner fender saying 1970. I fould the frame ID # and ran that and it says Oct. 65'. Cool.
Got it for $310 bucks. :flipoff2:

All that has been done so far is vacuum and cleaned the windows. Needs work, but not a WHOLE lot. I would like for just a grocery getter 33x9.50's 2.5" lift and keep everything else as vintage as possible. I have my pickup for hardcore trails. This may see some bunny trails open open. Only thing that I don't like that I would want to change is manual disk brakes all the way around. So front axle swap is needed. and maybe power steering.

Right now I dont know if I want to pull the tub, and go all out right from the start or not.
Would be swapping the axle and springs anyway. give me a good chance to go over the frame, interior and engine compartment. Save the exterior body work and paint for down the road. Frame has no rust, pans are solid, engine not seized. (needs everything though)

Just need to give this TLC a little TLC. we will see how it turns out.

Landpimp from what I can tell and seeing pics of some of yours, it has the lower bib parking lights.
the windshield hinges are old school. as well as some other stuff. but the 65's you have have the different cowl vent than mine. wondering if that was a mid year change. ???
Think it is just 70' fenders, it has the F engine. dash mount vacuum shifter.

It has the drivers side mirror is mounted on the tub below windshield. The last year for that was 67'.
Good find.

Your a thief! Nice score. I have seen way way way worse condition for more $$

Congrats
Oh yeah

Welcome aboard newbie

Good to be a newbie again.

And yes I am a red handed thief, but hey he had his reserve at $200 and noone wanted it, not my place to tell him of his stupidity. I was doing that under my breath as I was pulling out of his driveway. ;p I was waiting to have something go wrong since it was to surreal.

I think it will get a good ol resto. Just sucks that I might as well not even touch it until I have like 1500 bucks to throw at it. Becasue if not it will just sit in pieces in the garage instead of whole. I hate having projects just sit. So we will see how income taxes are and get spring time rolling in and get to work. Shouldnt be bad if I dont mess with the paint just yet. Take care of all the other stuff. Needs full wiring as well. Did find the hood rib, both windshield wiper motors and arms and rear latch stuf in a box o parts. No lower doors in there though. Sucks that I want to keep it original, makes it that much more expensive trying to piece it all back together.

Give this thread a much needed update 3 years in the making.

Ya I haven't been wheeling but I have been getting a my 66' crusier project a much needed wrapping up. Been paying insurance on it for 3 years and it hasn't moved a lick.

Didnt really do much to get it going. Cleaned it up and tried to make it simple. Didnt last long. A few thing here and there over the years but it was still far from road worthy. I had already replaced all the wiring and got the engine cleaned up. Never fully got the brakes figured out though. Took forever to do a cage and seatbelts. It has ran for a few years just never really went anywhere. I am determined to get it on the road for spring though.

To date here is the list of things in the past year or so that has gotten it to really pick up pace and get me motivated to wrap it up and get it on the road and trail by spring.

Swapped mini truck knuckle outers on Cruiser front axle for disk brakes, rear disk brakes w/ monte carlo rear calipers. Corvette manual disk brake master cylinder. Degnol's adapter idea to bolt it all up. Works great.

Basic overhaul on all mechanicals. pertronix ignition with flamethrower coil. GM alternator, new fuel pump. rear main seal and oil pan gasket.

New clutch master and slave, turned flywheel with chevy clutch disk to mate to an SM420 tranny. AA adapter to Dana 300 w/homemade twin stick. Jeep driveshafts with toyota conversion flanges at the axles. Also swapped in mini truck rear axle to mate to centered rear output. 34x10.50 TSL LTB's on stock Landcruiser 5.5" wide rims with stock hub caps to clear the disk brakes.

Made up a custom cage to fit and still get the long jump seats in as well as clear the windshield clamps. and give some much needed protection.
Will get some pics of the fit on it. Very tight. Actually goes between the seat and arm bar on the jump seats.

Still more to do.

Will update as I move along on the little things. I replaced way too many little things to get it all pretty like  .

Got the thing painted though. Tired f the cracking and dull rolled on grey that it was. Went with Toyota T1028 Spring Green single stage. Figure it is a color you will not see on the road anywhere else. Tired of all the mundane stuff out there anymore. I am definelty not a body man and also not a painter which shows, but hey 20/20 is good enough for me. Worlds better than what I had before. Will see how it is after a little wax as well.

Pics from ebay. Just how I bought it.

Made some half doors since I do no thave a top anymore. It is on jackstands still. Does not sit that tall. It is right about 6' at ride height. Only a 1" lift to fit the tires. Ya they rub.
