So what do I do? I am thinking about using a 2x3 box steel tubing to replace the underneath area attached to the frame and buying some sheet metal to replace the panel and tub portion. Does someone already make these pieces. I looked at the rear sills on CCOT. Any suggestions?

i bought one of e-bay a couple years ago. maybe not resto. quality but it fits good. didnt have nuts welded on but i could live with that for what it cost.

I feel your pain.

SOR doesn't seem to stock any rear sills these days.

I talked to Lance (guy with the Heritage Sheet Metal thing) and they currently seem to be in limbo on body panels/steel...

I guess CCOT has some stuff but it's tough to get a handle on the quality.

Hadn't heard of Real Steel Cruiser Parts (Fast Eddy's suggestion) - I may give them a call.

Cruiser Solutions seems to make some quality ($) parts, rear cross member, etc. - but I don't think they do a sill.

Strange someone doesn't make a high quality, complete sill.

It depends on the year, I have a 77 and the sill has a little more bends so I had to use 16ga I believe. Pretty sure the bodys are made of 16ga and I would have a machine shop do it. Mine cost like $40.00 for the entire piece. The only problem you will have is the ends that support the rear 1/4's. I'm using budbuilt panels so I can skip the bent ends and weld supports to them.

I've had as well as other friends have had CCOT sheetmetal. The fenders are imported and not very good (I've heard they have gotten better) but the rest is really good stuff.

Their rear sill is a quality piece. You just have to see one to understand.

That's correct. CCOT fabs their replacement and patch panels on site. They use 16 gauge sheet metal. Their fenders, tubs, and floor pans come from Costa Rica IIRC. The South American pieces didn't appear to be of the same quality as their in-house stampings.

I am looking for a rear sill channel. Cant seem to locate one or information about such. I see Trollhole has one pictured along with his sill. If you look inside the bed of my first pic, you will see the replacement sill. But I need the channel. If anyone knows a good source or better option, please let me know.

I drew one out on a piece of paper and took it to the local sheet metal guy in town and he bent one out for $25. I had him make it long so that I could cut it to fit.

Here is a pic of CCOT rear sill. It comes in 2 pieces. The channel and the sheet metal. I also bought CCOT quarter panels and inner fender braces. I thought it to be very good quality.

Good Luck

Slight hijack...

Sorry for the dumb question :o
but, how do you attach the curved ends from the new channel to the sheet metal of the rear quarter panel? Weld it also?
B.

BrianSanDiego,
You can weld from the inside of the panel to the sill. I think I will try to call CCOT tomorrow to see how much and how long it will take to get the inside Sill channel. I will let everyone know. I will also check out my local Sheetmetal and AC shop to see what they can do.

Figure 6 weeks to your doorstep. Price varies a little on the year.
