Posted this in the 80's section already.

I've started a group buy thread on another forum for 96-04 Tacoma Safari Snorkels.

I thought posting over here would benefit this group buy 2 fold. One being that maybe some 80 series owners and hundy owners would jump on the bandwagon and we could combine this all into one large group buy. The other is to use this forums expertise to find a better discount with another company.

Let me know your thoughts.

I'd be interested in the GB but need to convince the :princess: that a snork is necessary. I've been trying with the typical waterproof / better in the dust argument but she is convinced it is the ugliest thing I could ever do to a vehicle, not to mention drilling through the fender.

My only thought is you already got a good deal from Sierra, so just run with that- don't pin these vendors against each other or they'll be less likely to entertain future group buys.

Hopefully that's not true as I'm not trying to do anything devious here. I'm just trying to get the best price possible for myself and all other members. I too think it was a nice discount especially with free shipping but other members don't think it's good enough to jump in on a group buy. So here I am trying to find out if there are other companies out there that are known to give better prices.

I might be in....need a snorkel like I need a third testicle.....looking forward to Dan's install pics before I pull the trigger. Have concerns about how to deal with the electric antenna.

To convince the other half, let her drive through water with a tarp.
That's what I did. She got across, stepped out and said: next thing on the list is a snorkel.
Job done.

If you are interested in the safari group buy it is on T4r.org. However, please note that nother member other than me has taken the bull by the horns at this point and hasn't checked in for availability of 100 series snorkels as of yet. I don't know how or if this will happen so I don't want anyone to feel left out in the end.

I would be in on a Safari snorkel group buy just as long as it is the newest version of the snorkel...I don't want the old one.

Actually it will be cheaper for you guys but I'm not sure if it's the newer or older. The one pictured on their site is the newer style not the old style that ran the length of the fender.

I am interested. I thought I had my mind made up on the TJM snorkel, but I read some interesting things about the Airtec and snorkels in general. Heavy rains and such. I posted the info and the link in the TJM Snorkle Group Buy thread. I'm looking for feedback on it before I make a final decision. Comments?

Price should be $306.91 shipped to lower 48.

Actually, the pictures on their website show the old version of the Safari snorkel. The current version model number for the Safari snorkel for the 100 series is SS86HF. The model number Sierra lists is SS85HF...the old version. If it is the old version they are selling, I will have to back out.

I really like the look and lines of the TJM snorkel, but unfortunately the way it was designed and manufactured does not allow the use of a cyclonic pre-cleaner. Snorkels are a functional only modification in my opinion...there is not much they add in looks to the truck. I decided that if I added a snorkel, it would be one that allowed the use of a pre-cleaner so I could avoid issues with water or snow intrusion as well as the more important function of pre-cleaning dusty air. Just my thoughts...

Sorry about that. How many times has the hundy snorkel been changed? I thought the old one ran the length of the fender like this.

No problem at all. Just wanted to clarify. That is the new snorkel design...it travels longer down the fender so that the antenna can be bypassed. If you look at the one on the website, it is much shorter. The hole drilling location required the removal of the antenna. Not a big deal, but I want to keep my stock antenna. I am surprised that they actually still have it listed that way...it's been a couple years since the change. Maybe they had a lot of stock...maybe he can chime in.
