If you've wheeled your 100 at Tellico, please advise...

I've searched and I've found Tellico & 100 mentioned in the same thread, but never really specific info so any advice would be appreciated.

I have: 2000 LC, bfg 285-75-16, slee tube sliders, very little off-road experience

I know: lift, protection, more protection would help tremendously but it ain't gonna happen for a while. Also there are "easy" trails at Tellico (I'm assuming Tellico's "easy" is not the same as my "easy").

Looking for: Should I "just take pics and grill the burgers" or "wheel the **** out of it" and/or anything in the middle of those two.

Thanks in advance!

Going in a few weeks and I too have the same concerns. Subscribed.

I concur with marshall you will be fine josh....... there is nothing you hundy can't handle on trails 4, 5,6

Since you don't have much offroad experience the most important thing is going to be to have a qualified spotter and to trust him........... the good thing is the Trail Teams will be there and they are pros at spotting

your going to have a blast

I've had my (last) 100 on all of the trails Marshall mentioned and had a blast. You'll be fine, having a good spotter is key.

So, this Tellico thing, when is it?

Yes, you will be fine. Hang out with us other IFS folks and we'll get your big 100 butt through anything. I've wheeled the FJC stock (with sliders), lifted no skids, and in it's current configuration at Tellico many times. Just stay off the skinny pedal when you should and you'll scoot on through.

Sliders on...as ready as I'm gonna be!

Not sure what I'm taking on the OTMT trip... but could be my 100... or cruiser4life's old 100, which I've seen handle Tellico with no problem. If I take it, I'll ride along with your group... and show you all the lines not to take!

It'll be my first time wheeling the 60 as well. So, at least you won't be alone. I'm definitely planning on the 4,5,6 runs, and then we'll see how it goes.

However, I've been on quite a few rides and can clearly attest to the spotter being able to get you through almost anything. We've gotten 4cyl Danglers through almost all of Tellico, and I've seen the Trail Team spot the FJC's through lower 2. We'll get you where you need to be. Now, if I can get used to being in the seat steering/gassing instead of outside motioning, I'll be happy.

I'm not going but you can do the long part of 8 also, more fun when it rains

Well, we did pretty good...

With no lift, the belly and trailer hitch left a few marks on the trail and the sliders had a nice introduction to Tellico 101 on Fri., but that's why we put them on, right? (Thanks Slee!) I must say, the lift is definately a good thing. Rode with a lifted 100 on Sat. with 285's and it was night and day...gives you many more options on the trails the 100 can run.

Had a great time and will definately do it again. Thanks to Woody and the Toyota Trail Team for teaching me a thing or two and spotting! And, to UC for putting on such a great event!

And Steen's 100 with the lift:

So, to sum up...I'm definately going to go with the lift and more protection, but I'm not in a hurry. For all the newbies (like me), stock + 285's and sliders will take you on lots of fun trips with the club and/or family. You'll be amazed at what your 100 can do in stock form. The FAQ has lots of fantastic info but until you see for yourself, there's no need to spend the money. Find someone in your area that's done one of the mods you're thinking about and ask if you can go for a ride sometime.
