got these from jeepnmatt on pirate

diff rings about $70. for two
something to use to build diff protection...

i think it's a real good idea.
i slightly scraped my 60 rear diff and it's been dripping ever since.

they're a good starting point for diff protection :D
 
heres something you could do to, if your bored and you got some free time...this is a 40 axle.. with 3/16" plate shave about 3/4" and blah blah :eek: :eek:

thats a 40 front axle im building to put under my bro's zuk, it only takes off about 3/4" but it makes a smooth surface to slide on, oh and its 1/4" plate too:bounce:

this is what i did...

freshly welded...



after grinding.... the fill plug was moved to the top... 1/4" steel plate, one 250 amp mig and a BIG hammer...



btw, this is my rear axle.. :D

Once tack welded did you bolt or brace your link plates in casue of pulling or warpage due to welding??

those are all great ideas, but none will work w/removable cover

any ideas for sill being able to remove it?


jim, how will these work with the bubbled out sheetmetal on the stock covers?

:confused: are you talk'n bout the bubble for the ring gear?
in the first pic, the diff ring has the notches cut for a perfect fit on the cover.

or are you talk'n bout the bubbles around the edge of the cover?
