Guys,

I recently misplaced the key to my ignition. I thought my ignition was an OEM one, but upon removal found a stamp saying "Made in USA." The tumbler etc is pretty loose so instead of getting a key cut for it I just want to replace it.

So now I am trying to decide if I should find an OEM one, or else just buy a universal.

A couple of questions:

  1. Will a universal fit in the hole properly? Anyone have experience?
  2. Anyone have a wiring diagram for it for a 1970 model?
  3. Anything I should/shouldn't do when installing it?
Any advice/info is appreciated. Regards,
Jonny

Hey, before you go to all that trouble, a lock smith might be able to make a key for you from your existing cylinder...
