Can someone help me figure out where this part goes? I know it’s part of my shifting mechanism but not sure where it fits. It looks like it’s brand new and was never installed. Found it hiding under the cover.

It is part of the shift lock release mechanism at the front part of the shifter. You would insert a screwdriver or similar in a hole in the top of the shift console to allow the shifter to go into gear without it running.

I know the override hole you are referring to but will have to look again to see if I can find the exact location. This helps narrow it down a lot. Thanks.
