Today's yield. I have never had eggplant before.

Slice it long ways, brush it with some olive oil and dust on your favorite slices. Grill it like you would a steak (not as hot though) and enjoy.

That was supposed to say spices.

Good looking veggies Gabe!

Josh is right about grilling the eggplant. We do that with squash and zucchini but I do lose some when I flip them, if it's not thick sliced. We marinate, in a zip lock, in italian dressing sometimes too!

mmmm sounds good. I may try that this weekend.

The heat and lack of rain has made this the latest garden we have ever had. We have picked 1 cucumber, several squash, a couple dozen cherry's, and a few regular tomatoes. The turtles seem to get the lower ones before we can pick them! The green beans and cukes are blooming but nothing yet. In a week or two we should be getting a a pretty good amount of veggies.

The canopy frame is hanging tough and the cherries are almost ready to weave around the frame. Seems stable enough, so far.

The apple tree is full this year so we are hoping the deer will be too pre-occupied to want to raid the garden.

Here is a few pics from this morning and a link from the beginning til now, in no particular order! I think I removed all the porn from snapfish. :censor:

I spred a truckload of chicken poop over my spot and my neighbor came and tilled it in today. Apparently there was a dead chicken left in the poo because my wife said there were buzzards circling and in the yard today. :bounce: Hope to get some stuff planted this weekend or next.

May not look like much but it is in the ground. I will add some manure when I find some on sale.

Tomatoes, squash, peppers, and zucchini. Still looking for okra!

Well after many years of wanting to do a garden I finally pulled the plug...4x8x8", the square foot garden...the block laid out, the pile of top soil, and the block filled and leveled

Watered and mulched...tomatoes, bell peppers, sweet peppers, onions, raddish, carrots, cucumber, peas, beans, potatoes, and I have a few squares to fill, possibly cantaloupe or zucchini or squash....this is what a trailer full of mulch and a winters with of rain will do to your yard....had to use 4wd to get it out...good times

And last but not least planted and grape vine...hopefully it will succeed, I love grapes, plus I'd try my hand at a lil wine making!

Why the mulch?

Keep weeds downs and water in. I'm going to mulch our entire garden.

Exactly...allows the soil to retain more moisture so your plants won't dry out. This is standard double ground but I'm hoping to start a compost and then just use that next year as the mulch cover. I've got onions raddish and carrots in the holes to maximize all the space.
