Does it matter what radiator fluid I use. 1983 FJ40. I'm using Valvoline for Toyota but it says 1990 and above.

Pick one and don’t mix it with another. If you have not been using that coolant make sure your system has been completely flushed and is clean before adding new coolant.

FWIW, I run old school green in the 40. You’re probably over spending for the Toyota specific coolant for a 2F.

Pre-1990, I'd use the classic green ethylene glycol / inorganic acid coolant.
