Not new, I dug through paperwork and it was new in 2008. Not sure what the metal inside would be. They showed me some but it was chewed up & not really recognizable.

Got a call from the shop today...they said they got my parts in (distributor, ignition coil) but the 'Yota dealer sent a friggin' 1994 distributor not a 1984 one. The told me there are no more OEM distributors...is that true? I told them to stick a re-manufactured one in there. They said it should still be ready tomorrow. I hope so, I miss my girl!

Hold the phone. Didn't you say that the cap and rotor were new before this car wash? They are taking you for a ride man, the cap and rotor shouldn't die anywhere near that fast.

unless the dizzy is bad and letting rotor make contact with the cap but that would be very visible. shouldnt have ne thing to do with car wash though

Might that be where the pieces of metal were coming from? I told them to save the parts for me.

I think the car wash thing was just bad timing...I don't see how that would cause ign coil and dizzy to go bad at same time.
