i've also had good luck with optimas, but that ended with my 76 pig. i think part of it may have been a tortured optima. long story short, voltage reg went bad and killed a non optima agm battery so i replaced that, then garnered an internal short in the alternator that reversed the polarity on the non optima agm. replaced it with an old optima that was sitting around in the garage and had been used to raise and lower the rear window in a pig that doesn't run and had been used for years in my 40 and had lost it's charge. didn't realize the alt was bad until a few weeks later when the battery went dead again.

replaced alt, charged battery...still had issues with ammeter showing well overcharge, but normal voltage at the battery. today, i put a new lead bat in and all is perfect.
