Hello there,

I am looking at buying an FJ Cruiser and took a look at a nice 2007. Looks in good shape and ran well. I noticed when the AC was running about every 5-10 sec there was a loud click from engine. I was told it was the AC compressor cycling. The idle also fluctuated more than my current vehicle. I own a 06' tacoma that does not make the noise and it's virtually the same motor setup. Anyone know what this could be?

Thanks

Mine does that some as well. Not super noticeable. My old 03 XTerra we just got rid off did it A LOT...annoyingly so.

Still probably not great. Did there appear to be any front end work done? If anything was replaced...radiator ect...might have over-pressurized the system

Didn't notice any work done and carmax says no accidents. I looked under car and every looks good. I'm more worried that maybe ac compressor is about to die.

That is normal, almost all AC compressors click on and off. The click is a magnetic clutch.
