What does this cable operate inside of the trans ? ? ? is there a soloniod that I can replace with out a huge amount of hassle? I am still having trouble getting into 4th.. It changes from 3rd to 4th at 60mph.. goes into 4th and will drop to 3rd was to easily.. I am playing with the adjustment and have the stopper at about .05 from the red dillybob... Fixing to make a 90 mile road trip and may be adjusting along side the road along the way.....

The dip stick reads full hot or cold... I am going to drain the fluid when I get to where I am going... Refresh my brain cell 4 quarts dex IV

Thanks D

"I am playing with the adjustment and have the stopper at about .05 from the red dillybob.."

What does the 0.5 refer to? It should be 1-1.5 mm from the stopper (dillybob)

The cable and cam it moves can become stiff and not go through the complete range of movement. disconnect the cable and make sure your throttle is set correctly. then reconnect the Throttle position cable(kick down cable) and check it has the right range of movement.

ADJUSTMENTS
ADJUSTMENT OF THROTTLE CABLE
1. DEPRESS ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND CHECK
THAT THROTTLE VALVE OPENS FULLY
If the throttle valve does not open fully, adjust the ac·
celerator link.
2. CHECK AND ADJUST THROTTLE CABLE
(a) Check that the throttle cable is installed correctly and
not bending. .
(b) When the throttle valve is fully closed, adjust the
cable housing so that the distance between the end
of the boot and the stopper on the cable is correct.
Distance: 0 .5 - 1.5 mm (0.020 - 0 .059 in.)
(c) 2H engine only - Fully depress the accelerator.
measure the cable stroke.
Cable stroke: 33 :!; 1 mm (1 .30 :!; 0 .04 in.)
If not within specification, loosen the adjusting nut
and adjust by moving the adjusting cam. Then recheck
the adjustment.

You may have to bend the bracket the kick down adjustment is on as they get weak and bend over time.

THANKS

4 quarts is about right for a pan drain, but have an extra or two in case you get more out.
