Tinkering under my hood yesterday, as my gas mileage has taken a crap.

Came across this Circular thing with little red dots on the inside of it, not sure what's wrong with it or what it is. It's located on the intake side underneath the throttlebody.

Help?!?!

Yours seems to be missing a cover and filter.
It's basically a throttle damper. I suppose it could effect overall fuel economy.

Don't worry about it unless you have CEL problems. Fuel mileage sucks regardless.

The ECU doesn't monitor this device so it would not throw a code.

Isn't that where you place the leftover part that doesn't burn? You're not supposed to throw it out the window.... That's right under the radio....

The point is to reduce emissions when decelerating.
