Repost indeed, but I still would like to have seen how they attached the rope to the SUV...
 
I'm curious, how much torque/load is that wooden pole lever generating?
 
it is amazing. The guy on the outside of the lever doesn't seem to be doing any work except maybe holding up the lever. He is slipping and sliding trying to keep up, almost as if the other two guys are pushing him around AND pulling the truck out.

It looks to me that they shoved those 6x6's down through the lower control arms of the front suspension. The more you pull on the back of that cradle the harder the wood should bite into the metal of the arms.

When I worked on our heavy rescue we would go out in the summer and move concrete highway barriers with a couple pieces of pipe and some 6ft sections of 4x4. You could really get those things moving if you new what you were doing.
