Has any one done this? Retrofit a 1976 FJ40 body onto a complete 05 GX470 chassis, I think some four runner versions were done in Alabama, I have a. Extra body and my eye on a nice doner GX470

It would never look good. I have seen a few body swaps of fj40's on independent suspension frames. It looks terrible, I have never seen one look good. 40's really need a solid front axle, its the body style of the 40 that makes it look silly with independent suspension under it. The guy that owns aqualu has a 40 with front and rear independent suspension and 49" tires, its probably the best looking one ive seen. But you put 49" tires on just about anything and it will look ok.

I've seen a FJ40 body on a shortened FJ Cruiser chassis, it looked well done but the guy owned his own full on body/fab shop. It's not going to be cheap to do it right.

Here's my buddy's work in progress. 94 80 frame pro shortened with a 76 40 body. IFZ w 5 speed oversees tranny (H55F?). Stock 80 suspension w 33" MTRs. No lockers tho. Very cool.
